Gundam’s Official Fashion Label Reveals New Unicorn Souvenir Jacket Collection
Image by James RichardsonBandai’s official Gundam fashion label STRICT-G has opened pre-orders for a new collection of reversible sukajan jackets inspired by Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn.
Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn follows Banagher Links as he becomes caught up in the mystery surrounding Laplace’s Box, eventually placing the RX-0 Unicorn Gundam at the center of a conflict involving the Earth Federation, Neo Zeon remnants and the influential Vist Foundation.
The anime’s two most recognizable Gundam-type mobile suits take center stage on the new jackets, with separate designs dedicated to the Unicorn Gundam and its darker counterpart, the Unicorn Gundam Unit 2 Banshee.
Sukajan, also commonly known as Japanese souvenir jackets, are traditionally associated with glossy satin materials and elaborate embroidered artwork, making the style particularly well suited to STRICT-G’s more detailed Gundam apparel collections.
Both new jackets use reversible designs that allow their respective mobile suits to be displayed in two different forms, with intricate Japanese-style embroidery covering both sides rather than simply changing the colors of the same artwork.
The “STRICT-G Mobile Suit Gundam UC Sukajan Unicorn Gundam” features the Unicorn Gundam in Destroy Mode on one side before switching to its more restrained Unicorn Mode when reversed.
Its Banshee counterpart follows the same idea, pairing the mobile suit’s more aggressive Destroy Mode appearance with its closed Unicorn Mode configuration on the opposite side.
Both jackets are made using glossy polyester satin across the outer and inner surfaces, with ribbed sections combining acrylic, wool and polyurethane and are available in M, L, XL and XXL sizes.
STRICT-G has released several other premium souvenir jackets based on the Gundam franchise during 2026, including reversible designs featuring the Xi Gundam and Penelope from Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway, while a Wing Gundam Zero EW sukajan recently received an official US re-release.
Image by Charlotte DavisGundam Unicorn has also featured prominently in STRICT-G’s wider apparel lineup this year, with a recent collaboration with NEW ERA producing official caps based on Anaheim Electronics and the Vist Foundation before receiving a US release through Premium Bandai.
Pre-orders for the new Gundam Unicorn sukajan jackets, priced at ¥38,500 (approximately $245 / £185) each, are available through the STRICT-G Online Store on Premium Bandai Japan from September 25 until October 4, 2026, with orders expected to ship during October.
The jackets will also receive a wider release at participating STRICT-G stores across Japan from October 10.
No Premium Bandai US release has been confirmed at this stage, although previous STRICT-G sukajan collections have subsequently appeared through Bandai’s official US retail channel, making a later international release possible.
