New Dragon Ball Z Co-Op Board Game Set to Launch on Kickstarter

Fans of Dragon Ball Z will soon have the opportunity to experience the franchise in a new cooperative tabletop format, as Canadian game developer Lynnvander prepares to launch a Kickstarter campaign for an officially licensed board game titled Dragon Ball Z: The Board Game Saga.
A recently published Kickstarter preview page revealed the project and signaled that the crowdfunding campaign is expected to begin in the near future.
While comprehensive gameplay details have yet to be disclosed, the official description describes the title as an epic cooperative campaign experience for one to four players that allows participants to revisit the story of the Dragon Ball Z anime.
Based on that description, the game appears to cover a substantial portion of the original anime series and its major story arcs.

One of the promotional images released so far offers an early look at the game’s contents and suggests a wide variety of gameplay elements.
Visible components include character cards, attack cards, smaller cards that appear to represent locations and events, multiple tokens and markers, as well as trackers designed to monitor player statistics and game progress.

Lynnvander, which operates out of Ontario, Canada, has established a strong reputation in the tabletop gaming industry through both licensed and original releases over the past decade.
The studio’s crowdfunding history has been particularly successful, with 10 of its 12 previous Kickstarter projects exceeding their funding goals.

Among its strongest performers was Evil Dead 2: The Board Game Deluxe Edition, which secured $239,764 in funding and reached approximately 533 percent of its original target.
Another notable success was Albion’s Legacy – 2nd Edition, which exceeded its goal by roughly 465 percent and raised an additional $46,492 beyond its baseline objective.

The upcoming board game joins a long list of Dragon Ball adaptations that have expanded the franchise into numerous forms of gaming across the years.
Earlier this year, the mobile fighting game Dragon Ball Legends marked its eighth anniversary through a special live television event titled An Unpredictable 8th Anniversary.

The anniversary celebration also coincided with the addition of Super Saiyan God SS Gogeta and Broly: Rage to the game’s extensive roster of playable characters.
Dragon Ball fans can also anticipate a future video game project based on the franchise that was first unveiled during the Dragon Ball Genkidamatsuri event held in January.

Currently known under the working title Project Age 1000, the game is expected to feature one of the final characters created by franchise creator Akira Toriyama before his passing.
Early information suggests that Project Age 1000 may deliver a gameplay style that differs significantly from the types of Dragon Ball games released over the past two decades.

No pricing, release date, or final product specifications for Dragon Ball Z: The Board Game Saga have been announced at this stage, though the official Kickstarter campaign from Lynnvander and Pop Art Games is expected to launch soon.
