Metal Gear REX to be turned into a new high-end die-cast figure by Tamashii Nations

Bandai Spirits has officially announced that a “Chogokin” figure of the iconic Metal Gear REX from the video game Metal Gear Solid is in development.
“Chogokin,” which translates to “Super Alloy,” is one of Japan’s most historic and prestigious toy brands, dating back to the 1970s.

The line is famous for its high-end, collectible figures of robots and mecha that feature a significant amount of die-cast metal content, giving them a substantial weight and premium feel.
Metal Gear REX is the bipedal, nuclear-equipped tank from the classic 1998 PlayStation game, Metal Gear Solid, designed by the artist Yoji Shinkawa.

Its unique and influential design has made it one of the most famous and beloved mechs in video game history.
This new project will bring the iconic video game weapon to life as a premium, die-cast metal collectible.
The initial announcement is a confirmation that the product is being developed, with the full details, including its features, price, and a specific release date, yet to be revealed, however, fans will be able to get a first look at the new figure very soon.
The world’s first exhibition of the “Chogokin Metal Gear REX” prototype will take place at the “METAL GEAR SOLID POP UP STORE in SHIBUYA PARCO.”

This pop-up event is scheduled to begin on Friday, the 15th of August.
A full online reveal of the product, with complete details and images, is scheduled for Thursday, the 28th of August, 2025.
