Sea of Stars Launches on Switch 2 with Sunset Edition Update

Sabotage Studio has released the final content update for its successful 2023 retro-inspired RPG, Sea of Stars, on June 8, 2026.

This concluding update, titled the Sunset Edition, is now available across all platforms including PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch.

A major highlight of the June 8, 2026 release is the official arrival of Sea of Stars on the Nintendo Switch 2 as a native port.

Existing owners of the original Nintendo Switch version can access the Switch 2 edition as a free download and are able to transfer their save data to the new hardware.

The Switch 2 version features GameShare support, allowing up to three players to participate in local co-op sessions.

The Sunset Edition introduces a high-budget animated opening cinematic that provides more backstory for the heroes of the past.

Players will also find new key art created by artist Bryce Kho and significant balance adjustments for both Normal and Hard difficulty modes.

The update splits the Tactician’s Mettle relic into two separate items to offer more granular control over the combat challenge.

In addition to the digital release, Sabotage Studio confirmed that a physical collector’s edition is being developed in partnership with iam8bit for release later in 2026.

With development on Sea of Stars now complete, the studio has shifted its full focus to its next project, currently codenamed Project Sparrow.

Project Sparrow has been in development for over a year and is confirmed to take place in the same shared universe as Sea of Stars and The Messenger.
