Light, Misa and L Inspire New Official Death Note Skirts

The Death Note franchise has inspired a sophisticated new line of apparel from the fashion brand MAYLA.
The “Death Note Iconic Skirt” collection features three unique models that blend the anime’s dark aesthetic with elegant design.

Death Note is a globally acclaimed manga and anime series written by Tsugumi Ohba and illustrated by Takeshi Obata.
The story follows Light Yagami, a high school student who discovers a supernatural notebook that allows him to kill anyone by writing their name in it.

He engages in a high-stakes battle of wits with the eccentric detective known only as L, captivating audiences with its psychological tension.
MAYLA is a fashion brand known for creating items that bring excitement to the wearer’s daily life, often based on popular anime and videogame series.

This collaboration aims to overlay the “quiet darkness” of the source material with the brand’s signature feminine style.
Each skirt is designed with a layer of sheer tulle over the fabric, muting the character illustrations to create a subtle, gothic look suitable for everyday wear.
The construction features elaborate draping that sways with the wearer’s movements, adding a sense of elegance and flow.

A key design element is found on the back of the skirts, where characters deeply connected to the main models are illustrated.
Specifically, the Shinigami (Gods of Death) Ryuk and Rem are positioned so that their eyes are intentionally hidden by the fabric folds.

This design choice creates a sense of mystery and unease, as the terrifying faces of the Shinigami are only glimpsed fleetingly when the skirt moves.
Let’s take a look at the full collection!
- Light Yagami

This black-themed model features the series protagonist and represents the darker tones of the narrative.

- Misa Amane

Designed in a purple hue, this skirt reflects the gothic-lolita fashion sense of the “Second Kira.”

- L

This white model represents the world’s greatest detective and offers a stark contrast to the other two designs.

Customers will receive a B5 clear file featuring the same color theme as the skirt they chose as a purchase bonus.

The skirts are priced at 25,850 yen (approx. $172 USD / £136 GBP) each and shipping fees within Japan are charged separately at a rate of 600 yen (approx. $4 USD / £3 GBP).
