Daihatsu to release real life Hatsune Miku themed car this winter

The concept design for the fifth edition of the official “Hatsune Miku Collab Car” has been revealed, marking the 10th anniversary of the project which began with Daihatsu in 2014.
The new vehicle is named the “Canvas Hatsune Miku Edition,” or “Miku Canvas 2,” and is based on the Daihatsu Move Canvas.

This new model is unique in that its design originated from a public contest for a new Miku outfit, held on Crypton’s “Piapro” platform.

The winning design, by an artist named “Pentagon,” was themed around a cheerful picnic.

That fan-created outfit then served as the direct inspiration for the car’s entire aesthetic, with further input gathered from the community through web surveys and online fan meetings.

A new main visual for the project, also based on the picnic theme, was created by the popular illustrator, necömi.

The vehicle’s design features numerous custom parts that integrate motifs from the fan-designed costume.

The exterior includes:
- A hood stripe based on the costume’s necktie.

- A pink “01” emblem on the fender, referencing the mark on Miku’s arm.

- Side mirror stripes that mimic the gradient of Miku’s hair.

- Side stripes featuring line art of Miku and a border collie on a picnic, along with a waveform representing Miku’s voice and a fan’s heartbeat.

- A fuel cap decal with all six Piapro Characters.

- A rear fender stripe using the costume’s check pattern.

- And a custom “Miku Canvas 2” logo emblem on the back.

The interior is also extensively customized.
- The steering wheel cover and shift lever cover feature unique designs.

- The seatbelt pads use the costume’s check pattern.

- The seat covers for all four seats are designed to perfectly replicate the look of Miku’s white shirt and checked skirt from the winning design.

- The interior paneling also features the hair gradient color scheme.

A physical version of the “Miku Canvas 2” concept car will be exhibited at the upcoming “Hatsune Miku: Magical Mirai 2025” event in Osaka and Tokyo, where attendees will be able to experience the car in person.
The final production version of the car’s accessory package is currently undergoing final adjustments and is aiming for a release in the winter of 2025.
