Bandai Officially Announces New Gundam Wing Anime Project

Bandai Namco Filmworks has officially revealed that the fan-favorite Gundam anime series “Mobile Suit Gundam Wing” is receiving a brand new “visual project”.
This exciting development was shared with audiences worldwide during the recent “Gundam Conference Spring 2026” livestream event.

Producer and board director Naohiro Ogata took to the stage to confirm that a fresh screen project is actively in development for the alternate century timeline.
While the exact nature of the production remains a closely guarded secret, Ogata provided a tantalizing hint regarding its overall scale.

When asked if the “visual project” could be a short ten-second clip, a theatrical film, or a full television series, the producer confirmed it would definitely be something “long.”
Speculation amongst fans has previously led to the belief that any future projects would be an anime adaptation of the “Frozen Teardrop” sequel novels or a complete high-definition remaster of the original television series.

The Japanese term used during the presentation broadly encompasses everything from event shorts and home video releases to full theatrical runs and broadcast series, so fans will need to wait a little longer for confirmation of what exactly the “visual project” entails.
This announcement closely follows the massive 30th-anniversary celebrations for the franchise that took place throughout the previous year.

Those recent festivities included a special promotional video screened at San Diego Comic-Con and 4K resolution theatrical screenings of the “Mobile Suit Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz” sequel across the United States.
The Gundam Wing universe has also expanded recently with a new manga titled “Mobile Suit Gundam Wing 0.5 Point Half Preventer-7” which launched last August.

Written by Katsuyuki Sumisawa and illustrated by Sakura Asagi, the comic directly bridges the gap between the animated sequel and the “Gundam Wing: Frozen Teardrop” novels.
The rich history of the After Colony timeline includes several iconic media releases that helped popularize the mecha genre internationally.
The foundational “Mobile Suit Gundam Wing” television series originally premiered in 1995 with an expansive 49-episode run.

This core story follows Operation Meteor and the fateful encounters of five young mobile suit pilots battling the oppressive United Earth Sphere Alliance.
The series was incredibly successful and eventually spawned the “Mobile Suit Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz” OVA in 1997.

This three-episode sequel series continues the intense narrative directly following the dramatic conclusion of the original television broadcast.
The creators then returned to the property in 1998 to produce the “Mobile Suit Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz” theatrical film.

This cinematic release effectively compiled the three OVA episodes into a single feature-length movie packed with exciting additional footage.
In addition to this announcement, Bandai Namco Filmworks also confirmed a massive remaster project for the original “Mobile Suit Gundam” anime series.

This expansive restoration effort is being meticulously undertaken to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the entire franchise.
The primary goal of the remaster is to introduce the foundational story that launched the global phenomenon to a completely new generation of modern viewers.

Further details regarding the mysterious new “Mobile Suit Gundam Wing” screen project will be shared by the production team in the future.
Fans can expect the fully remastered version of the original “Mobile Suit Gundam” series to officially launch in 2029.
