Square Enix Fully Reveals New Final Fantasy X 25th Anniversary Cafe Menu

Final Fantasy X is celebrating its 25th anniversary with a large new collaboration cafe that turns characters, locations and memorable moments from the RPG into themed food and drinks.

The “FINAL FANTASY X 25TH ANNIVERSARY CAFE” will run across four locations in Japan for almost three months, with a shared menu joined by additional dishes exclusive to Yokohama, Osaka and Nagoya.

Final Fantasy X originally launched for PlayStation 2 in 2001 as the tenth main entry in Square Enix’s long-running RPG series, following Tidus after he is transported to the world of Spira and joins summoner Yuna on her pilgrimage to defeat Sin.

The game introduced full character voice acting to the series for the first time and placed considerably greater emphasis on facial animation, helping its emotional story and relationship between Tidus and Yuna become some of the most remembered elements of Final Fantasy X.

Its 25th anniversary celebrations have already produced a growing range of new merchandise and events, with the upcoming cafe providing fans with another way to revisit Spira through references to everything from Zanarkand to Blitzball.

Several menu items will be available throughout the complete event, starting with the “25th Anniversary Cake,” priced at ¥1,870 (approx. $12 USD / £9 GBP), which combines mango and pineapple in a fruit-heavy dessert created specifically for the anniversary.

The “Parent and Child Reunion: Zanarkand Oyakodon,” priced at ¥1,650 (approx. $10 USD / £8 GBP), uses the Japanese chicken-and-egg rice dish as a direct play on the complicated relationship between Tidus and his father Jecht.

The “Blitzball Spectator Basket,” priced at ¥1,210 (approx. $8 USD / £6 GBP), pairs nuggets and chips as a snack designed around watching Spira’s famous underwater sport.

Yuna receives the “Yuna Fruit Peach Lemonade,” priced at ¥880 (approx. $6 USD / £4 GBP), which is available hot or cold and references her determination to complete her pilgrimage and defeat Sin.

The “Tidus Fraternity Soda,” also priced at ¥880 (approx. $6 USD / £4 GBP), takes its name from Tidus’ signature Brotherhood sword and accompanies one of his most memorable lines from the game.

Fans can also order the “FFX Ver. Latte Art Drink” for ¥880 (approx. $6 USD / £4 GBP), with nine randomly selected character designs available on either hot coffee or tea.

The “FFX Ver. Sleeve Drink,” priced at ¥770 (approx. $5 USD / £4 GBP), provides a simpler option that pairs a selected soft drink with Final Fantasy X-themed presentation.

The first half of the cafe introduces another five items that will only be available from September 11 through October 22.

The “Tidus Fish Burger!” is priced at ¥1,210 (approx. $8 USD / £6 GBP) and turns the energetic Blitzball player into a fish-fry sandwich designed to fit the sporting theme surrounding his character.

The “Jecht Hearty Meat Platter,” priced at ¥2,530 (approx. $16 USD / £12 GBP), reflects Jecht’s larger-than-life personality through a substantial selection of meat that can either be shared or ordered as a full meal for one person.

The “Dream Zanarkand Tiramisu,” priced at ¥1,540 (approx. $10 USD / £7 GBP), recreates the atmosphere of Zanarkand at night through a dessert presentation inspired by Tidus’ home city.

Kimahri receives the “Kimahri Ronso Blue,” priced at ¥880 (approx. $6 USD / £4 GBP), while Lulu’s “Seductive Black Cocktail” costs ¥990 (approx. $6 USD / £5 GBP) and provides one of the alcoholic options on the menu.

A completely different group of limited dishes will replace those items during the second half of the event from October 23 through December 2.

The “Summoner Yuna Prayer Anmitsu,” priced at ¥1,210 (approx. $8 USD / £6 GBP), combines mitsumame and fruit in a parfait-style dessert inspired by Yuna’s role as a summoner.

The “Wakka Orange Salmon Carpaccio,” priced at ¥1,320 (approx. $8 USD / £6 GBP), pairs smoked salmon with blue dressing to recreate colors closely associated with the Besaid Aurochs captain.

The “Luca Stadium Plate,” priced at ¥2,200 (approx. $14 USD / £10 GBP), serves a tropical-style chicken dish with spicy salsa, vegetables and pineapple alongside a randomly selected edible logo representing one of the game’s Blitzball teams.

Rikku receives the “Al Bhed Popping Mango,” priced at ¥880 (approx. $6 USD / £4 GBP), while Auron’s alcoholic “Crimson Cup” costs ¥990 (approx. $6 USD / £5 GBP) and references his famous line telling Tidus that “this is your story”.

The three temporary Square Enix Pop Up Cafe locations will also receive exclusive dishes based partly on their respective cities, giving each venue something different from the shared menu.

Yokohama’s “Pilgrimage Dim Sum Set,” priced at ¥1,320 (approx. $8 USD / £6 GBP), includes five different flavors inspired by the temples visited during Yuna’s journey through Spira.

The same location will serve the “Guadosalam Farplane Lemonade” for ¥990 (approx. $6 USD / £5 GBP), using the supernatural Farplane as inspiration for a more atmospheric drink.

Osaka receives the “Besaid Aurochs Blitzball Takoyaki,” priced at ¥1,210 (approx. $8 USD / £6 GBP), transforming the city’s famous takoyaki into miniature Blitzballs served with okonomiyaki sauce.

Its exclusive “Macalania Forest” drink costs ¥990 (approx. $6 USD / £5 GBP) and takes inspiration from one of Final Fantasy X’s most visually memorable locations.

Nagoya’s food exclusive is the “”It Might Be Our Last Chance” Ankake Spaghetti,” priced at ¥1,870 (approx. $12 USD / £9 GBP), which combines the local pasta specialty with seafood and colors inspired by the sunset over the ruins of Zanarkand.

The Nagoya menu also includes “Mt. Gagazet,” priced at ¥880 (approx. $6 USD / £4 GBP), a warm honey milk drink inspired by the frozen mountain that becomes one of the final major destinations on Yuna’s pilgrimage.

Visitors will receive additional Final Fantasy X collectibles while using the cafe, with six random B4 placemats split evenly between the first and second halves of the event.

Orders from the collaboration menu will also include one random coaster, with nine designs available during the first half and another nine replacing them for the second half.

The “FINAL FANTASY X 25TH ANNIVERSARY CAFE” will run from September 11 through December 2 at the Officially Licensed Square Enix Cafe & Shop Shinjuku and Square Enix Pop Up Cafe locations in Yokohama, Osaka and Nagoya.

Shinjuku will continue serving its normal grand menu alongside the anniversary collaboration, while the three Pop Up Cafe locations will focus entirely on the Final Fantasy X menu during the event.

Cafe seating is primarily available through advance reservations, with walk-in customers accepted when space remains and each visit limited to 90 minutes.

A ¥1,200 charge (approx. $8 USD / £6 GBP) applies to cafe visitors and includes one sleeve or latte art drink, one random coaster and one random placemat, with each guest also required to order at least one additional menu item.

Reservations are currently available up to one month in advance through the individual booking pages for Shinjuku, Yokohama, Osaka and Nagoya, while the attached merchandise areas can be visited without booking a cafe table.
