Gundam Wing’s sequel manga officially launches this August
A new manga series that continues the story of the classic anime, Mobile Suit Gundam Wing, has been officially announced.
The new series is titled “New Mobile Report Gundam Wing 0.5POINT HALF PREVENTER-7” and is being released as part of the franchise’s 30th-anniversary celebration.
In celebration of Gundam Wing’s 30th anniversary a number of events and products have been launched, including a range of official jewelry and new figures of Wing Gundam and its pilot, Heero Yuy.
The manga will be serialized in the monthly magazine Gundam Ace, a publication from the publisher Kadokawa that is dedicated to the Gundam franchise.
Significantly, the script for this new story is being written by Katsuyuki Sumisawa.
Sumisawa was the head writer and was responsible for the series composition of the original 1995 Gundam Wing anime, so his return to the franchise marks an official continuation of the story from one of its key creators.
The artwork for the new manga will be drawn by the artist Sakura Asagi.
A preview panel has been released, set in the year A.C. 197, which places the story after the events of the sequel OVA, Endless Waltz.
The teaser image showcases a wide range of familiar characters, including the five main Gundam pilots, as well as Dorothy, Marimeia, and Lady Une, all gathered together.
The story is teased with the line, “In A.C. 197, the Preventers are on the move again,” suggesting a new mission for the covert peace-keeping organization.
The first chapter of the new manga will debut in the October issue of Gundam Ace.
To further commemorate the 30th anniversary, that issue of the magazine will also come with a special, 36-page booklet containing comprehensive information about the Gundam Wing series.
The October issue of Gundam Ace, featuring the debut of the new manga, is scheduled to be released on Tuesday, the 26th of August, 2025.
A Gundam Wing anime sequel was also recently teased, with a special promotional video launching in tandem with a Gundam panel at San Diego Comic Con.
