One Piece Brings Back Luffy’s Best Transformation for New 10th Anniversary Release

The new Portrait.Of.Pirates “SA-MAXIMUM” Monkey D. Luffy Gear Fourth “Bounce-Man” 10th LIMITED Ver. was first shown in painted form at ONE PIECE DAY ’26, celebrating both 15 years of the MAXIMUM series and the approaching 10th anniversary of the original Bounce Man figure.
Monkey D. Luffy is the captain of the Straw Hat Pirates and the central character of Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece, with his increasingly powerful transformations becoming some of the defining moments of his journey toward becoming King of the Pirates.
Gear Fourth made its debut during the Dressrosa storyline, with Luffy inflating his muscular structure and combining that expanded body with Armament Haki to dramatically increase his power, speed and durability.
Bounce-Man was the first version of Gear Fourth introduced in the story, giving Luffy an enormous upper body, Haki-coated arms and legs and a constantly bouncing movement style that made the transformation immediately recognizable.
MegaHouse originally turned that appearance into an SA-MAXIMUM figure in 2017, with the release becoming the first new product after the revival of the MAXIMUM branch of the long-running Portrait.Of.Pirates line.
The sculpt captures Luffy in an aggressive pose inspired by Buddhist guardian imagery, with his enlarged body surrounded by curling steam effects and his limbs hardened by Armament Haki.
For the anniversary release, MegaHouse has kept that familiar sculpt intact while revisiting its presentation using techniques developed across the MAXIMUM series during the years since the original appeared.
The most substantial changes come through the coloring, with the Haki covering Luffy’s arms and legs receiving revised shading and finishes that give the darker sections additional depth against his skin and clothing.
The steam effects surrounding his body have also been retuned, giving the translucent sections stronger definition as they curl around the oversized figure.
Those adjustments allow the 10th LIMITED Ver. to retain the pose and proportions of the original while giving the nearly decade-old release a finish more in line with recent Portrait.Of.Pirates MAXIMUM figures.
Standing approximately 30 cm tall at 1/8 scale, the figure keeps the exaggerated proportions that make Bounce-Man substantially larger and more imposing than many of Luffy’s other forms.
The timing also gives the figure a double anniversary connection, with 2027 marking 15 years since the MAXIMUM series was first established and 10 years since this particular Bounce-Man statue originally went on sale.
The Portrait.Of.Pirates line itself has been producing One Piece figures since 2004, while MAXIMUM has developed into its higher-end branch for larger and more elaborate character releases.
The “SA-MAXIMUM” Monkey D. Luffy Gear Fourth “Bounce-Man” 10th LIMITED Ver. is priced at ¥27,500 (approx. $173 USD / £127 GBP), with pre-orders opening through Premium Bandai and other hobby goods retailers on August 28 at 1:00 PM JST.
The figure is scheduled for release in late March 2027.
