BANDAI SPIRITS has confirmed the re-release of three figures from the “Mobile Suit Gundam” anime series within its popular “ROBOT Spirits” line.

Fans will once again have the opportunity to acquire the RX-78-2 Gundam, the MS-06S Char’s Zaku, and the MS-06 Mass-Produced Zaku.

This re-release should appeal to a wide range collectors and fans as they are based on popular mobile suits from the original “Mobile Suit Gundam” series.

The show was directed by Yoshiyuki Tomino and is known for its realistic take on mecha combat and its complex themes of war, humanity, and evolution.

At the heart of the series is the epic rivalry between the Earth Federation’s protagonist, Amuro Ray, piloting the experimental RX-78-2 Gundam, and the Principality of Zeon’s charismatic ace pilot, Char Aznable, also known as the “Red Comet”, who pilots a distinctive red MS-06S Zaku II.

The ROBOT Spirits ver. A.N.I.M.E. (Action New Imagination Memory Emotion) series is a specialized sub-line of the larger ROBOT Spirits brand, designed with a specific focus on recreating the dynamic, exaggerated, and expressive poses seen in anime.

These figures feature cutting-edge articulation technology and sculpts that directly reference the anime’s original animation cels, making them ideal for recreating iconic scenes and action sequences.

The re-release of these three well known mobile suits allows collectors to recreate the pivotal battles of the One Year War between the Earth Federation and the Principality of Zeon.

Each of the three figures is packed with features and accessories to enhance scene recreation:

  • ROBOT Spirits <SIDE-MS> RX-78-2 Gundam

This figure of the legendary RX-78-2 Gundam, piloted by Amuro Ray, is equipped with a wide range of accessories.

The figure includes its signature beam rifle with a beam effect part, a shield, two beam sabers with different beam effects to simulate a swinging motion, a Hyper Bazooka, and a variety of interchangeable hand parts.

The articulation is engineered to allow for the Gundam’s signature “last shooting” pose and other memorable actions.

Piloted by the iconic rival Char Aznable, this red Zaku is known for its speed and agility.

The figure’s articulation is designed to capture its dynamic movements, including its signature kick.

This figure is also equipped with movable gimmicks and a similar range of weapons as Char’s version, including the Zaku machine gun, Zaku bazooka, and Heat Hawk.

It also includes a cracker (hand grenade) and a missile pod for the legs, with missile effect parts

For those looking to build a platoon from multiple figures, the “ver. A.N.I.M.E.” line includes interchangeable head parts to represent a squad commander.

All three figures are designed to complement each other, with their accessories and effect parts being interchangeable which should allow collectors to build dynamic dioramas and recreate the intense mobile suit battles from the original anime.

The re-release of these figures comes shortly after the reveal of a new “METAL ROBOT Spirits Gundam (GQ)” figure, which is based on the RX-78-2 Gundam as it appeared in “Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX”.

These figures are being re-released via hobby stores and other retailers.

Each figure is priced at 6,600 yen (approx. $45.59 USD / £33.27 GBP) and provides a perfect opportunity for both new collectors to start their collection and for established fans to fill gaps in their existing lineups.

Pre-orders are scheduled to open on July 1st, with the figures being released in December 2025.
