Sanrio has revealed a huge new collection of Pompompurin 30th anniversary merchandise, featuring plush, bags, accessories, stationery and home goods inspired by the laid-back golden retriever.

Pompompurin made his debut in 1996 and has grown into one of Sanrio’s biggest characters over the three decades since, with the laid-back golden retriever once again taking first place in the worldwide Sanrio Character Ranking in 2026.

His anniversary year has already produced several very different merchandise projects, including the separate Japanese “Pompompurin From Back Then Design Series”, which recreated the look of Pompompurin’s original 1996 “Boku, Purin” merchandise across a retro-inspired collection.

More recently, Pompompurin also received his first collaboration with Japanese sushi chain Sushiro, pairing themed food and drinks with exclusive merchandise as his 30th anniversary celebrations continue into fall.

One of the biggest items in Sanrio’s new collection is a four-piece boxed plush set featuring Pompompurin alongside his mom, dad and Muffin, with all four presented together inside a transparent display box and finished with gold 30th anniversary labels.

The collection also includes a large plush clock that combines Pompompurin’s soft character design with an illuminated time display, snooze function and a commemorative gold anniversary label.
