Sanrio’s My Melody and Kuromi Inspire New adidas Originals Fashion Collection
Image by James RichardsonJapan’s ABC-MART has officially launched a new adidas Originals fashion campaign inspired by Sanrio’s My Melody and Kuromi, pairing the characters’ contrasting pink and black styling with a cozy fall and winter collection.
The ABC-MART-exclusive range combines fluffy boa fleece hoodies and pants with platform FORUM BOLD J sneakers, while newly created campaign visuals show My Melody and Kuromi wearing matching adidas outfits alongside Japanese talents Satomi Shigemori and Kiho Isobe.

ABC-MART is a major footwear and apparel retailer established in 1985, with the new campaign forming part of its exclusive adidas Originals lineup for the colder months.

My Melody and Kuromi have become one of Sanrio’s most frequently paired characters, with My Melody’s softer pink image providing a natural contrast to Kuromi’s darker black and purple styling.

That same color pairing recently formed the basis of a large Converse collaboration spanning sneakers, clothing and customizable designs, although the new adidas collection takes a considerably subtler approach.
Image by Charlotte DavisRather than printing My Melody and Kuromi directly onto the garments or sneakers, ABC-MART uses black and clear pink colorways to evoke the two characters, leaving the Sanrio artwork to the accompanying campaign imagery.

The promotional shots build around an everyday “cozy at home” and “one-mile style” theme, showing Shigemori and Isobe relaxing indoors before heading out to a convenience store with My Melody and Kuromi.

The characters themselves also appear dressed in adidas Originals tracksuits, including coordinated pink boa-fleece outfits that mirror the clothes worn in the campaign.

Three adidas Originals designs make up the collection, with each offered in both black and clear pink:
- BOA HOODY – ¥12,100 (approximately $77 / £57)

A short, loose-fitting hoodie made from soft boa fleece, finished with adidas’ Three Stripes down the sleeves and a purple Trefoil logo across the chest.

The relaxed shape is designed to work both as loungewear and as an outer layer for casual trips outside the home, with sizes ranging from S through XL.

- BOA PANTS – ¥11,000 (approximately $70 / £52)

Matching wide-leg fleece pants use the same soft material and color options as the hoodie, allowing the two pieces to be worn together as a complete pink or black set or mixed separately with other clothing.

- FORUM BOLD J – ¥11,000 (approximately $70 / £52)

The collection’s footwear is based on adidas’ women’s FORUM BOLD J, itself derived from the basketball-focused Forum silhouette first introduced in 1984.

Its elevated platform sole adds extra height beneath a relatively simple upper, while translucent TPU sections and the Three Stripes provide additional detailing across both the black and clear pink versions.
The shoes are available in Japanese sizes from 22 cm through 25.5 cm in half-centimeter increments.

Although the clothing and sneakers themselves remain character-free, customers purchasing qualifying items can receive an exclusive My Melody and Kuromi sticker set while supplies last.

The campaign follows another recent move into softer clothing for the pair, with My Melody and Kuromi also appearing together in a fluffy loungewear collection from Ballelite built around cozy nightwear and accessories.

Elsewhere, Kuromi has explored a much darker side of fashion through Sanrio’s All Black Kuromi Mode Series, which split her styling across Gothic, Girly and Casual interpretations.

The new My Melody and Kuromi-inspired adidas Originals collection officially launched across ABC-MART stores in Japan and the retailer’s online shop on November 5, 2026.
