Cardcaptor Sakura Celebrates 30th Anniversary with Stunning New Sakura and Cerberus Statue
Image by Charlotte DavisGood Smile Company has officially opened pre-orders for an elaborate new Cardcaptor Sakura figure celebrating the manga’s 30th anniversary, transforming brand-new artwork created by CLAMP specifically for the project into a premium-scale statue.
The “G.S.Collection [SC] Sakura Kinomoto My First Sparkle” recreates Sakura alongside Cerberus in his true form, surrounded by elements drawn from across the series and mounted above an illuminated magical circle.

Cardcaptor Sakura began serialization in Nakayoshi in 1996 and follows Sakura Kinomoto after she accidentally releases the magical Clow Cards, leaving her responsible for recovering them with help from the guardian creature Cerberus, better known in his smaller form as Kero.

The original manga concluded in 2000 before CLAMP returned to Sakura’s story with Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card in 2016, introducing a new collection of mysterious cards and continuing her adventures as she entered junior high school.

The new figure is the third major anniversary project created between CLAMP and Good Smile Company, coinciding with CLAMP’s 35th anniversary, Good Smile Company’s 25th anniversary and 30 years since Cardcaptor Sakura began serialization.

Their collaboration stretches back to 2016, when Good Smile transformed another newly commissioned CLAMP illustration into the “Sakura Kinomoto Stars Bless You” 1/7-scale figure as Cardcaptor Sakura celebrated its 20th anniversary.

A second project followed in 2021 with “Sakura Kinomoto Always Together ~Pinky Promise~,” created for CLAMP’s 30th anniversary, Good Smile Company’s 20th anniversary, and Cardcaptor Sakura’s 25th anniversary.

That design has remained part of Good Smile’s Cardcaptor Sakura lineup, with the Nendoroid adaptation of “Always Together ~Pinky Promise~” recently receiving its first re-release in more than five years.

For “My First Sparkle,” CLAMP has created another completely new Sakura design rather than returning to one of her existing costumes, dressing her in a flowing white outfit accented by an elegant blue swallowtail-style section.

Good Smile has used soft pink shading across the white fabric to give it additional depth, while the blue sections are finished with a pearl effect that adds a subtle shine as the figure is viewed from different angles.

Sakura is positioned alongside Cerberus in his large true form, with his enormous wings spread behind her and individual feathers, fur, and even the pads of his paws receiving detailed sculpting.

His expression also retains the softer personality associated with Kero rather than presenting Cerberus purely as an imposing magical guardian, reflecting both sides of the character within the larger display.

Several elements from Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card are incorporated around the pair, including “Alice in Clockland,” the mysterious book that becomes increasingly important as the Clear Card story approaches its final stages.

The Flight card and books suspended around Sakura use translucent parts to contrast with the heavier sculpted elements, creating the appearance that they are floating around the central figures.

The base adds another major display feature through an integrated lighting system that illuminates the magical circle beneath Sakura and Cerberus.

“My First Sparkle” belongs to Good Smile Company’s G.S.Collection [SC] range, with the SC designation standing for “Signature Class,” the manufacturer’s highest-end scale figure line created around particularly elaborate sculpting, paintwork, and production techniques.

The same premium range has recently been used for releases including the 1/7-scale “Hatsune Miku Symphony 2025: Sapporo Concert Ver.,” which similarly transformed a specially created illustration into a large centerpiece display.

Sculptor Takayuki Kawahara has handled the figure’s original sculpt as well as part of its paintwork alongside Iwabitsu, with the finished 1/7-scale display reaching approximately 50 cm tall, including its illuminated base.
