The Promised Neverland Returns This August With New Official Sequel Manga
Image by Charlotte DavisThe Promised Neverland is officially returning to Weekly Shonen Jump with a brand-new 36-page one-shot, giving readers another glimpse into its world six years after the original manga reached its conclusion.
Titled “War vs. Peace,” the new chapter is written by Kaiu Shirai with artwork by Posuka Demizu and takes place after the events of the manga’s main story, making it a rare continuation rather than another retelling of material fans have already seen.
The Promised Neverland originally began serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump in August 2016, following Emma, Norman and Ray as they uncover the horrifying truth behind the seemingly peaceful orphanage where they have spent their childhood.
What begins as an escape story quickly grows into a much larger conflict involving demons, human settlements and the system that has shaped both worlds, eventually bringing the manga to an end in June 2020 after 20 collected volumes.
War vs. Peace arrives as part of the manga’s 10th anniversary celebrations, with Shueisha planning several projects throughout 2026 to mark a decade since Emma and the other children of Grace Field House first appeared.
The new story is joined by a full-color digital edition of the manga, while a series of anniversary pop-up stores previously traveled to several Japanese cities during May and June alongside an online merchandise lottery.
A stage musical adaptation is also being developed as part of the celebrations and is scheduled to open in Tokyo this winter, bringing the story to the stage for the first time in this format.
The manga has remained widely available outside Japan since its conclusion, with Viz Media publishing the complete series in English both physically and digitally across North America, while MANGA Plus also offers an official English-language digital release.
The Promised Neverland expanded well beyond its original manga during its run, receiving an anime adaptation that began in January 2019 and returned for a second season in 2021.
A Japanese live-action movie followed in December 2020, further establishing the series as one of Weekly Shonen Jump’s major international hits from the latter half of the 2010s.
War vs. Peace will be published in the next issue of Weekly Shonen Jump on August 24, 2026, giving fans their first new post-series manga story from Shirai and Demizu as the 10th anniversary celebrations continue.
