The Croc: Legend of the Gobbos remaster is getting a “Platinum Edition” update

The remaster of the classic 3D platformer, Croc: Legend of the Gobbos, is receiving a major “Platinum Edition” update, which adds a host of new features, including a highly requested Platinum Trophy for PlayStation users.
The update was born out of a unique issue on the PlayStation platform.

The initial release of the remaster did not include enough trophies to qualify for a Platinum Trophy, a coveted achievement for many players.
As this cannot be fixed with a simple patch, the developers have created a new, separate edition of the game to rectify the issue.

While the primary motivation was the trophy list, the developers have “gone all-in,” adding a significant amount of new content to the game across all platforms.
The new features in the “Platinum Edition” include:
- New Trophies and Achievements: A comprehensive trophy set with 16 new Trophies has been added for the PlayStation versions, finally allowing for a Platinum.

The equivalent 16 new Achievements have also been added to the Xbox and PC versions, and an in-game achievement tracking screen has been added to the Switch version.
- Time Attack Mode: A brand-new gameplay mode where players can race against the clock.
- Expanded Crocipedia: Over 25 new entries have been added to the in-game encyclopedia.
- Music Options: The ability to toggle between different mixes of the game’s main theme in the main menu.
- Bug Fixes and Improvements: A variety of bug fixes and other quality-of-life enhancements have been implemented.

The rollout of the new “Platinum Edition” will be handled differently depending on the platform.
On the PC via Steam, this will be the game’s first official release.

On the Nintendo Switch, Xbox, and GOG, the new content will be delivered as a standard update to the existing game.
For PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 owners, the “Platinum Edition” will be a new, separate version of the game that can be downloaded for free by existing owners of the original remaster.

The “Platinum Edition” update is available now for the PC via Steam.
It is scheduled to be released for all existing console platforms Thursday, the 16th of October.
