Bandai Confirms US Re-Release for Japan Exclusive RG Sazabi Gunpla Kit

The RG 1/144 MSN-04FF Sazabi has returned to Premium Bandai US, giving US builders another rare opportunity to order the Japan exclusive version of Char Aznable’s iconic mobile suit online.

Originally created as a limited item celebrating the first anniversary of GUNDAM SIDE-F in Fukuoka, Japan, the MSN-04FF Sazabi is based on the version of the mobile suit featured in the special footage accompanying the life-size RX-93ff ν Gundam attraction.

The biggest difference from the familiar Sazabi from Mobile Suit Gundam: Char’s Counterattack is the addition of its enormous Double Horn Funnels, which completely change the appearance of the backpack and give this version an imposing silhouette even by Sazabi standards.

Both Double Horn Funnels are recreated using newly designed parts and can open into their firing configurations, mount onto Sazabi’s arms, or be removed for separate airborne displays.

The funnels can also be linked together for a combined flight configuration, giving builders several display options beyond simply leaving the weapons attached to the backpack.

Beam effect parts are included to turn the Double Horn Funnels into huge close-combat weapons, creating one of the most visually striking posing options available with any version of the RG Sazabi.

Bandai has also included an additional saber effect designed for the Long Range Fin Funnel from the separately sold RG 1/144 RX-93ff ν Gundam, adding some extra value for anyone looking to display the two Fukuoka mobile suits together.

An Action Base 5 is included with the Sazabi, making it possible to support the Double Horn Funnels away from the mobile suit and create the remote attack configurations that are such an important part of the MSN-04FF version.

Underneath the new equipment is the substantial Real Grade Sazabi build, complete with detailed armor separation, visible mechanical elements, articulated arm cylinders, and opening sections around areas such as the verniers and backpack.

The MSN-04FF version also uses adjusted molded colors intended to bring its appearance closer to the special footage, while a new sheet of Realistic Decals adds markings specific to this release.

Sazabi’s familiar arsenal remains well represented alongside the new equipment, including its Beam Shot Rifle, Beam Tomahawk, Beam Sabers, shield, and standard funnels, so the Double Horn Funnels expand the kit rather than replacing its more traditional display options.

The combination of the already substantial RG Sazabi frame and the oversized FF equipment gives the completed model a noticeably different presence from the regular release, particularly when the Double Horn Funnels are opened or displayed independently.

Pre-orders opened through Premium Bandai US on August 11, 2026, and are scheduled to close at 2:59 AM EDT on August 24, with shipping currently planned for September 2026.

Its return comes during Premium Bandai US’s Gundam Summer Fest, which is temporarily making a selection of harder-to-find Gundam items available online and offering free shipping on qualifying orders of $99 or more.

The festival is scheduled to run through 11:59 PM PDT on August 23, 2026, and because the MSN-04FF Sazabi clears the $99 threshold, an order for the kit qualifies for the free-shipping promotion.
