Square Enix Announces New SQ Relax Album Featuring Final Fantasy, NieR, and Chrono Trigger Remixes
Square Enix has announced the next release in its SQ Relax chillout remix series, with a new album bringing together reworked tracks from some of the company’s most beloved games.
The album, titled “SQ Relax – Krystelle’s Chillwave Vol. 2,” continues the series’ focus on transforming iconic video game music into soothing arrangements designed for relaxed listening.
The release features music from several major Square Enix franchises, including Final Fantasy, NieR, Octopath Traveler, Chrono Trigger, SaGa, and Legend of Mana.
Rather than simply collecting the original versions of the tracks, the album gives each piece a new sound built around warm analog textures, organic beats, and a gentle chillwave atmosphere.
The result is a cross-series selection that highlights familiar melodies while reshaping them into softer, more laid-back arrangements.
The track list includes “Prelude” from the Final Fantasy series, “The Ancient City ~ Saint Mocianne’s Arboretum (Amdapor Keep)” from Final Fantasy XIV, “Battle on the Big Bridge” from Final Fantasy V, “Song of the Ancients / Devola” from NieR Gestalt & Replicant, and “Yearnings of the Wind” from Chrono Trigger.
Also included are “Theme of Love” from Final Fantasy IV, “Terra’s Theme” from Final Fantasy VI, “Mißgestalt” from SaGa Frontier II, “Weight of the World” from NieR: Automata, and “Blinded by Light” from Final Fantasy XIII.
The album continues with “City of Flickering Destruction” from Legend of Mana, “Awakening” from Final Fantasy XI, “Chrono Trigger” from Chrono Trigger, “Melodies of Life ~ Final Fantasy” from Final Fantasy IX, and “OCTOPATH TRAVELER – Main Theme –” from Octopath Traveler.
Rounding out the 21-track lineup are “Four Sinistrals Battle 1” from Romancing SaGa 3, “Vague Hope (Cold Rain)” from NieR: Automata, “Kainé / Salvation” from NieR Gestalt & Replicant, “Tifa’s Theme” from Final Fantasy VII, “Aerith’s Theme” from Final Fantasy VII, and “Someday the Dream Will End” from Final Fantasy X.
The album artwork features Krystelle, the mascot character associated with the “Chill SQUARE ENIX MUSIC 24/7” stream on the official SQUARE ENIX MUSIC Channel on YouTube.
Krystelle’s inclusion on the jacket connects the physical release with Square Enix’s wider chill music branding and its ongoing relaxed listening initiatives.
Pre-orders are now open through the Square Enix e-STORE, Amazon, and other online retailers, with “SQ Relax – Krystelle’s Chillwave Vol. 2” scheduled for release on September 15, 2026, at a price of ¥3,300 (approx. $23 USD/ £18 GBP).
