Sanrio Reveals New Japan World Cup Collab Merch Collection Ahead of Release

Sanrio and the Japan Football Association have officially announced a new merchandise collection featuring popular mascots dressed up to support the Japan National Football Team.

The “Sanrio Characters x Japan National Football Team” collection features a variety of daily necessities and collectible goods.

The collection is being launched to celebrate Japan’s involvement in the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2026.

The prestigious football tournament is scheduled to take place between June 11 and July 19 across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

The Japan National Football Team, often known as “Samurai Blue,” represents the nation in international competitions and commands a massive following across the globe.

To mark this major sporting event, the national team has recently partnered with several other anime series and pop culture icons.

An official collaboration with My Hero Academia introduced exclusive character jerseys for five heroes, including Deku and Bakugo, complete with their own names and numbers printed on the back.

The One Piece franchise also released a special video to cheer on the team ahead of the tournament.

To support this crossover, the real-life football squad also received custom blue straw hats based on a new illustration by series creator Eiichiro Oda that featured Monkey D. Luffy wearing the official team uniform alongside a blue straw hat.

Popular Japanese singer Ado has also teamed up with adidas to release a special 2026 home replica jersey featuring her signature blue rose motif on the front and a character portrait on the reverse side.

She also provides the vocals for the official uniform song “Kira,” which was composed by Tatsuya Kitani.

Sanrio is widely recognized for creating incredibly cute and memorable characters that have become deep fixtures of global pop culture, often collaborating with anime series and brands to create unique merchandise crossovers.

For this latest collection, some of Sanrio’s most iconic mascots are donning the official “Samurai Blue” uniform to help fans cheer on the national team.

Physical sales of the “Sanrio Characters x Japan National Football Team” collection will take place inside the “JFA STORE” pop-up space located at Tokyo Character Street’s Ichiban Plaza, on the B1 floor of Tokyo Station First Avenue.

The limited-time store is scheduled to run from Friday, June 12, to Thursday, June 25, 2026, with operating hours from 10:00 JST to 20:30 JST daily, except for the final day which concludes at 18:00 JST.

For fans unable to visit the physical venue, the entire lineup will also become available online via the Tokyo Character Street Online Plaza starting from 10:00 JST on Friday, June 12, 2026.
