Sanrio and Razer Reveal Release Date for Adorable New Pompompurin Gaming Headset
Image by James RichardsonRazer has officially confirmed the release date for its new Pompompurin gaming headset, which gives the Kraken Kitty V2 BT a Sanrio-inspired makeover based on the popular golden retriever.
The “Razer Kraken Kitty V2 BT – Pompompurin Edition” was first revealed in August as the newest addition to Razer’s growing Pompompurin gaming collection, although its launch had previously only been given a tentative October window.
After originally debuting in 1996, Pompompurin is celebrating his 30th anniversary throughout 2026, a year in which he has also retained first place in the worldwide Sanrio Character Ranking for a second consecutive year.
Razer’s headset replaces the pointed cat ears normally associated with the Kraken Kitty V2 BT with Pompompurin’s long yellow ears and adds his trademark brown beret across the top of the headband.
Additional character artwork appears underneath the headband, and the earcups retain Razer Chroma RGB lighting capable of displaying more than 16.8 million colors.
The Pompompurin Edition uses the same core hardware as the standard Kraken Kitty V2 BT, including Razer TriForce 40 mm drivers, Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity and a Gaming Mode designed to reduce wireless audio latency.
The headset also includes an integrated noise-cancelling microphone for voice chat and supports 7.1 surround sound on compatible Windows systems.
The headset completes a Pompompurin gaming collection that began earlier this year with the “Razer Ornata V3 Tenkeyless – Pompompurin Edition” keyboard, “Razer DeathAdder Essential – Pompompurin Edition” mouse and “Razer Gigantus V2 M – Pompompurin Edition” mouse mat.
Those three accessories originally launched as Target exclusives in the US, but Razer has now confirmed that they will also be sold directly through Razer.com, RazerStore locations and selected retailers in both the US and additional countries, giving them broader availability.
Pompompurin’s 30th anniversary has also produced several other exclusive releases and collaborations, including Sanrio’s retro “Pompompurin From Back Then Design Series” inspired by his original 1996 merchandise and his first-ever collab with sushi chain Sushiro, which pairs themed food and drinks with exclusive character goods.
Razer is also adding another Sanrio-themed audio product later this month with the newly revealed “Razer Hammerhead V3 X HyperSpeed – Kuromi Edition,” a pair of lilac and black gaming earbuds featuring a Kuromi-shaped charging case and her skull emblem across each stem.
US fans will be able to pick up the “Razer Kraken Kitty V2 BT – Pompompurin Edition” through Target for $139.99 from October 4, with both online and in-store availability confirmed.
Outside the US, the headset will launch through Razer.com and RazerStore locations in select countries on October 2, 2026.
