New VTuber Shiozora Namiri denies involvement in bomb threats

Shiozora Namiri, an independent VTuber, has publicly disclosed that she has become the target of a serious and malicious cyberattack.
In a statement released today, the VTuber reported that her email address has been misused to send spoofed bomb threat emails to multiple companies and organizations.

VTubers are online entertainers who utilize virtual avatars, generated through computer graphics and often animated using real-time motion capture technology, to interact with their audience.
Independent VTubers are those who do not have the backing of a large agency such as hololive production or Nijisanji.
Following the collapse of the VShojo agency, many of their VTubers have reverted to an independent status.

Despite debuting only recently on July 12th, 2025, Shiozora Namiri has rapidly garnered significant attention from fans.
Her distinctive character designs and engaging promotional videos have quickly attracted a substantial following, accumulating approximately 50,000 subscribers on her YouTube channel and a comparable number of followers on X.

This rapid ascent in popularity may, unfortunately, have made her a target for malicious actors.
In a post titled “Caution and Request” shared on her official channels, Shiozora Namiri addressed the grave situation directly. She stated,
“I have confirmed that spoofed bomb threat emails using my email address have been sent to multiple companies and organizations. I did not send these emails myself, and I have no connection to them whatsoever.”

Email spoofing is a common cybercrime technique where the sender’s email address is forged to appear as if the message originated from a trusted or legitimate source.

This is often achieved by manipulating email headers, making it difficult for recipients to identify the true sender immediately.
The purpose of such attacks can range from phishing to discrediting the impersonated individual or organization.
The act of sending false bomb threats is a serious criminal offense with severe legal consequences in many jurisdictions, often punishable by significant fines and imprisonment.

Such threats can cause widespread panic, lead to evacuations, and divert critical emergency resources, posing a risk to public safety.
Shiozora Namiri has also revealed that she has received personal death threats, which suggest that these actions are part of a highly malicious online harassment campaign.

They have taken immediate steps to report and consult with the appropriate authorities, including law enforcement, to investigate the matter thoroughly.
Additionally, they have issued a plea to anyone who may have received the fraudulent emails to contact the relevant authorities, assisting in the ongoing investigation.
