New decorative plates feature Studio Ghibli’s most famous food related scenes
A new range of tableware will allow fans to enjoy their favorite food related scenes from Studio Ghibli’s beloved animated films.
Donguri Kyowakoku, the official retail outlet for Studio Ghibli merchandise, has expanded its product offerings with a new line of 14 different “Yummy glass mini-plates.”
These glass plates feature scenes and characters from a wide array of Studio Ghibli’s acclaimed films, providing fans with new ways to celebrate their favorite animated works.
Studio Ghibli, co-founded by Hayao Miyazaki and Isao Takahata, is globally recognized for its beautifully animated films that often explore themes of environmentalism, childhood, and magical realism.
Titles such as My Neighbor Totoro, Spirited Away, and Princess Mononoke have garnered international awards and a dedicated fanbase, making official merchandise a popular way for enthusiasts to connect with these cinematic worlds.
The “Yummy glass mini-plates” collection draws from a diverse selection of Ghibli’s filmography.
Each mini-plate, priced at ¥1,100 (tax included), showcases a scene involving food from its respective movie.
The plates, which are 11cm x 11cm in size, are ideal to use as mini snack plates or would perhaps be best used as a decorative item placed on a shelf or in a cabinet.
The lineup includes designs inspired by:
- Castle in the Sky
This plate shows Sheeta making stew aboard the Tiger Moth.
- My Neighbor Totoro
This plate captures an endearing moment between Satsuki and Mei as they share caramel together.
- Kiki’s Delivery Service
Kiki enjoys tea with her grandmother on this purple colored plate.
- Porco Rosso
This plate features Mr. Piccolo and Porco Rosso enjoying spaghetti together.
- Whisper of the Heart
Shizuku enjoys Nabeyaki Udon on this blue and orange plate.
- Princess Mononoke
San bites into dried meat on this striking yellow and blue plate.
- Spirited Away
Three different plates are available based on Spirited Away – one featuring Chihiro:
