PS5 and PlayStation Portal Price Hikes Announced

Sony Interactive Entertainment announced on March 27, 2026, that it will increase the retail prices for its PlayStation 5 console lineup and the PlayStation Portal remote player.
These changes are set to take effect globally starting on April 2, 2026, as the company navigates what it describes as continued pressures within the global economic landscape.

In the United States, the standard PlayStation 5 will now cost $649.99, which is a jump from its previous price of $549.99.
The PlayStation 5 Digital Edition is moving to $59999 from $499.99, while the high-end PlayStation 5 Pro sees a $150 increase to a new price of $899.99.
Consumers interested in the PlayStation Portal remote player will also see a price hike in the United States from $199.99 to $249.99.
Market adjustments are being mirrored in the United Kingdom, where the base console will rise to £569.99, and the Digital Edition will reach £519.99.

The PlayStation 5 Pro in the United Kingdom is set at £789.99, while the PlayStation Portal increases to £219.99.
Across Europe, the standard and Digital Edition consoles will be priced at €649.99 and €599.99, respectively, reflecting an increase from their earlier price points.
The European market will also see the PlayStation 5 Pro priced at €899.99 and the PlayStation Portal at €249.99.
In Japan, the standard PlayStation 5 price moves to ¥97,980, the Digital Edition to ¥89,980, the Pro model to ¥137,980, and the Portal to ¥39,980.
This move signals a continuing trend where hardware manufacturers pass rising production and logistics costs onto the consumer base during periods of inflation.
