MOTHER 3's 20th Anniversary G-SHOCK Watch Celebrates the RPG's Most Iconic Moment

The Hobonichi MOTHER Project has revealed a brand-new collaboration with Casio’s G-SHOCK, celebrating the 20th anniversary of MOTHER 3 with a special edition watch inspired by one of the game’s most memorable scenes.

MOTHER 3 originally launched for the Game Boy Advance in Japan in 2006 as the third entry in Shigesato Itoi’s acclaimed RPG series, and remains one of Nintendo’s most beloved cult classics thanks to its emotional storytelling, unforgettable characters, and distinctive visual style.

This marks the third collaboration between the MOTHER Project and G-SHOCK, and the first in two years, continuing a partnership that has become a favorite among fans of both brands.

The watch is based on G-SHOCK’s iconic DW-5600 series, the classic square-faced model often referred to by collectors as the “Speed Model” after its appearance on Keanu Reeves’ wrist in the 1994 action film Speed.

Its vibrant yellow color scheme pays tribute to the unforgettable sunflower field from Chapter 6 of MOTHER 3, while also referencing a color long appreciated by G-SHOCK collectors through rare models such as the Speed Model and Frogman.

The MOTHER 3 logo has been printed on the watch face, while red accent colors inspired by the MOTHER series also give the design a subtle resemblance to G-SHOCK’s legendary “Jason” color scheme.

Fans will also discover plenty of references hidden throughout the design, including a pixel-art recreation of the sunflower field that appears when the backlight is activated.

The resin band features numerous Mr. Saturn characters enjoying playful moments, including climbing ladders and bird-watching, adding another unmistakable touch from the MOTHER universe.

Turning the watch over reveals the word “Potential!” engraved on the case back, referencing one of the series’ uplifting messages that many longtime fans will instantly recognize.

For the first time in a MOTHER x G-SHOCK collaboration, the watch also includes a removable gold-colored protector that helps shield the crystal and case from scratches while giving the design an even more distinctive appearance.

Despite its playful styling, the watch retains the rugged durability G-SHOCK is known for, including its signature Shock Resist construction and 20-bar water resistance, and every watch will be packaged inside a special sunflower-themed presentation tin.

The MOTHER 3 20th Anniversary Original G-SHOCK DW-5600 is priced at ¥19,800 (approx. $135 USD / £99 GBP).

Applications for the lottery sale will be accepted through the official MOTHER Store online between July 17, 2026 at 11:00 AM and July 30, 2026 at 11:00 AM.

Fans who would like to see the watch in person before entering the lottery will also be able to view a sample on display at TOBICHI Tokyo from July 14 through July 29, 2026.
