Gundam SEED Returns to Its Final Battle With Exclusive New Freedom and Providence GUNDAM CONVERGE Set
Image by Charlotte DavisBandai is bringing Gundam SEED’s climactic battle between Kira Yamato and Rau Le Creuset back to its figure lineup with newly updated versions of Freedom Gundam and Providence Gundam.
The “FW GUNDAM CONVERGE CORE Freedom Gundam & Providence Gundam” set revisits a two-pack originally released a decade ago, adding heavier paint applications, metallic finishes, and more than 10 new markings across the two Mobile Suits.

FW GUNDAM CONVERGE is Bandai Candy’s long-running range of compact Gundam figures, using stylized proportions while retaining detailed armor, weapons and mechanical elements from their full-size designs.

The new CORE set is based on 2016’s “FW GUNDAM CONVERGE SP07 Freedom Gundam & Providence Gundam,” but Bandai has extensively revised the finish to better represent the two machines during their final confrontation in Mobile Suit Gundam SEED.

Freedom Gundam receives model numbers and other markings across its armor, while its white sections now use a deeper blue-tinted finish alongside darker blue parts, glossy gunmetal joints, and a gold V-fin.

Additional markings have also been applied across its deployed wings, adding further detail when Freedom is displayed in High-Mobility Aerial Tactics Mode.

Bandai includes the Ambidextrous Halberd formed by connecting Freedom’s two beam sabers, allowing Kira’s Mobile Suit to recreate the weapon used during the final stages of his battle with Providence.

Interchangeable left and right wing-base parts are also included for deploying the backpack-mounted M100 Balaena Plasma Beam Cannons.

Providence Gundam receives a similar overhaul, with model numbers and ZAFT insignias added across its gray armor and further markings covering the huge DRAGOON platform mounted across its back.

Its joints now use the same glossy gunmetal treatment, while metallic finishes have been added to areas including the head visor and abdominal piping.

The MA-M221 Judicium Beam Rifle has also been finished in glossy gunmetal, giving Rau Le Creuset’s primary weapon the same darker mechanical finish used across the rest of the updated figure.

The two approximately 5.5 cm figures each come with their own display support, allowing Freedom and Providence to be positioned opposite one another as they appeared during Gundam SEED’s final battle.

Providence has also recently returned in a much larger form through the METAL BUILD Providence Gundam CLIMAX BATTLE Ver., which similarly focuses on Rau Le Creuset’s confrontation with Kira during the closing stages of the anime.

Freedom Gundam has meanwhile received another new interpretation through the MG 1/100 Freedom Gundam Ver.2.0 (Metallic Clear White), replacing much of Kira’s Mobile Suit’s usual white armor with translucent and metallic parts.
