Dragon Ball’s First Official Store Reveals Exclusive New Goku Release Inspired by the Manga’s First Volume

Bandai has fully revealed its exclusive new Dragon Ball Store release based on one of Akira Toriyama’s most iconic early illustrations, recreating young Goku riding a twisting green dragon above the clouds.
The “S.H.Figuarts Son Goku & Dragon -DRAGON BALL STORE Exclusive Edition-” revisits the figure originally created for Dragon Ball’s 40th anniversary with revised colors and a new store-branded display base.

DRAGON BALL STORE TOKYO opened in November 2025 as the franchise’s first permanent official Dragon Ball merchandise store, occupying a location inside Tokyo Station First Avenue and carrying a growing range of products exclusive to the shop.

One of its centerpiece displays is a large Goku-and-dragon statue based on the cover of Dragon Ball’s first collected manga volume, making the new figure a scaled-down interpretation of both Toriyama’s original artwork and the store installation itself.

The original illustration depicts a young Goku riding the dragon while carrying his Power Pole, which he used in the adventure-focused period that began the series.

Bandai gave us a first look at the new Dragon Ball Store edition in October, confirming that it would reuse the sculpt from the “S.H.Figuarts Son Goku & Dragon -40th Anniversary Edition-” with changes to Goku’s outfit, belt, and the dragon’s coloring.

The full reveal now shows those adjustments in greater detail, including revised tones across the dragon’s green scales, whiskers, horns, and dorsal ridge to more closely match the version displayed inside the store.

Goku retains the approximately 7.5 cm articulated body developed for the earlier release, with the original sculpt created by Hiroyuki Nakazawa, STUDIO-Ren and Yusuke Watanabe before articulation was incorporated by longtime Dragon Ball S.H.Figuarts designer Serow.

The dragon also returns alongside three cloud-shaped supports, allowing Goku to be displayed riding above the winding body in a recreation of Toriyama’s manga artwork.

A newly designed base replaces the 40th anniversary version, using colors inspired by DRAGON BALL STORE TOKYO and prominently displaying the store’s logo.

Bandai has now also confirmed that the accessory selection differs from the original 40th Anniversary Edition, which included three interchangeable expressions, six pairs of hands, replacement hair and head parts, multiple weapons, and a commemorative booklet.

The Dragon Ball Store version instead includes two pairs of interchangeable hands, a replacement belt part, and Goku’s Power Pole, keeping the focus more closely on recreating the first-volume cover display.

An interchangeable dorsal fin is included for the dragon alongside the three cloud supports and new display base.

The “S.H.Figuarts Son Goku & Dragon -DRAGON BALL STORE Exclusive Edition-,” priced at ¥8,800 (approximately $56 / £42), will be released exclusively through DRAGON BALL STORE TOKYO during November 2026.

That makes the store-exclusive version ¥2,200 cheaper than the ¥11,000 40th Anniversary Edition, reflecting its smaller accessory selection compared with the original 2025 V Jump release.
