NEEDY GIRL OVERDOSE creator announces plans for 13-episode anime and two new games

The creator and scenario writer of the hit game NEEDY GIRL OVERDOSE, Nyalra, has announced that they are establishing their own legally incorporated company to produce new games and an anime series.
NEEDY GIRL OVERDOSE is a hugely popular and critically acclaimed indie game that explores the dark side of internet fame and streaming culture.

In a post shared to their official X account, Nyalra reported that they have successfully created a game plan, secured tens of millions of yen in funding, and assembled a team to work on new projects.
They stated that they have established the new company, in which they will hold 100 percent of the rights, in order to avoid any interference regarding funding or intellectual property.

This is in part due to ongoing disputes surrounding NEEDY GIRL OVERDOSE, primarily stemming from rights issues that have led to concerns that the creators of the game were not correctly compensated for its success.
An ambitious, multi-year roadmap for new projects has also been revealed.
For the year 2026, two major new projects are planned.
The first is a new novel game, and the second is a 13-episode anime series, for which Nyalra will be handling the planning and scenario supervision.
Character designs for the anime series were shared previously in September 2024.

Additional character designs were also shared in July, which indicates that production of the anime is progressing.

A few years after that, a second, larger-scale indie game is also planned for release.
This move to full independence follows a period where the creator had hinted at new projects being in the works, and comes after some previously reported production issues on a spin-off title.

This new venture will see the acclaimed creator take full creative and financial control of their future works, which will undoubtedly lead to a better and fairer situation for all of the team members involved.
