McDonald’s Japan has piqued the interest of anime fans by hinting at a brand new collaboration with the hit martial arts anime series Baki.

Baki is an iconic fighting manga written and illustrated by Keisuke Itagaki, renowned for its intense hand-to-hand combat and hyper-muscular character designs.

The intense series follows a young teenager who constantly pushes his physical body to the absolute limit in dangerous underground fighting arenas.

The upcoming Baki promotional campaign was unexpectedly revealed through a single image posted on the company’s official social media accounts:

The newly shared promotional artwork features the protagonist Baki Hanma standing alongside the powerful Chinese martial arts master Retsu Kaioh.

Fans were quick to suggest that the third figure in the artwork was an anime-style caricature of legendary voice actress Masako Nozawa, and this was subsequently confirmed by McDonald’s.

The image was accompanied by the dramatic tagline “Baki Love, begins,” urging hungry fans to wait patiently for further follow-up reports.
