Hot Toys releases two new sets of super cute Sonic the Hedgehog figures
Hot Toys has announced two new series of products based on Sega’s iconic video game franchise, Sonic the Hedgehog.
The new releases feature characters from the series in two of the company’s popular stylized figure lines: “Cosbi” and “Cosbaby.”
Hot Toys is a manufacturer known for its high-end, hyper-realistic collectible figures, but its Cosbi and Cosbaby brands offer a more accessible, “deformed” or chibi-style aesthetic.
The first new release is the “Cosbi Sonic the Hedgehog Series 1.”
The Cosbi line features small, trading-style figures with simple, cute forms, sold in a “blind box” format, so the character inside is a surprise.
This collection includes nine different possible figures, each standing between six and ten centimeters tall.
Each Cosbi figure comes with a themed acrylic display base and a collectible character trading card.
The lineup includes Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Shadow, Rouge, Cream, and Dr. Eggman, with a rare, secret version of Super Sonic also included in the set.
This series is being sold exclusively at the SEGA STORE TOKYO, which recently opened to the public, and is priced at 2,500 yen (approx. $16.80 USD / £12.52 GBP) per random box.
They will be on sale alongside SEGA’s new “SEGA Cooro” and “SEGA LABBIES” plushies.
The second new release is a pair of figures in the “Cosbaby” line.
The Cosbaby series is built around the concept of “a baby cosplaying” a character, featuring bobble-head style designs and unique accessories.
Two different characters are available in this release: Sonic and Shadow.
Each Cosbaby figure stands approximately 12 centimeters tall and is packaged in a window box suitable for display.
They also come with attachable “dash” effect parts and a small plate featuring the Sonic the Hedgehog logo.
The Sonic and Shadow Cosbaby figures are being sold exclusively at the major electronics retailer Yodobashi Camera and its online store, with each Cosbaby figure priced at 6,500 yen (approximately $43.68 USD / £32.56 GBP).
