KFC Launches New Evangelion Collab with Exclusive Menu and Merch

KFC Hong Kong has launched its first collaboration with Evangelion, combining a purple EVA-01-inspired burger with collectible character cards, exclusive merchandise, themed packaging and a transformed Causeway Bay flagship restaurant.
Originally released in 1995, Neon Genesis Evangelion follows Shinji Ikari and a group of young pilots recruited by NERV to defend humanity from mysterious beings known as Angels using giant humanoid weapons called Evangelions.

The collaboration forms part of the franchise’s ongoing 30th-anniversary celebrations and uses the campaign theme “Purple Awakening,” drawing heavily from the recognizable purple and neon-green appearance of Evangelion Unit-01.

Leading the limited-time menu is the Purple Field Zinger Burger, priced at HK$36 (approx. $5 USD / £3 GBP), which reworks KFC’s familiar spicy chicken sandwich with a vivid purple bun designed to recall EVA-01’s distinctive color scheme.

Inside the burger is a crispy and mildly spicy chicken thigh fillet paired with pickles, purple onion, lettuce, and sauce, creating a mix of colors and textures that fits naturally with the collaboration’s EVA-01 theme.
KFC has also brought back its Rich Purple Sweet Potato Egg Tart and Crispy Purple Sweet Potato Balls after several years away, extending the purple theme beyond the main burger with two returning sweet potato snacks.

The collaboration also introduces a set of eight randomly distributed Evangelion character cards, with one card included when ordering designated items.
The five standard designs pair Shinji with EVA-01, Asuka with EVA-02, Mari with EVA-08, Rei with EVA-00, and Kaworu with Mark.06.

Three secret cards complete the collection, one featuring the Evangelion pilots together and two additional designs centered on EVA-01.

All participating restaurants are also receiving special burger wrappers and takeaway boxes decorated with Evangelion pilots and units, allowing the collaboration’s artwork to appear across more than just the collectible items.

For hungrier fans, a number of set meals will also be available.
The “A1 Purple Awakening Feast Set,” priced at HK$62 (approx. $8 USD / £6 GBP), includes the Purple Field Zinger Burger, a Purple Sweet Potato Egg Tart, a serving of Purple Sweet Potato Balls and a drink, as well as one randomly selected Evangelion character card.

The “A2 Purple Field Zinger Burger Set,” priced from HK$53.50 (approx. $7 USD / £5 GBP), pairs the burger with regular waffle fries and a medium soft drink.

The “A3 Purple Field Zinger Burger Meal for Two,” priced at HK$99 (approx. $13 USD / £9 GBP), contains two burgers, regular waffle fries, two Portuguese egg tarts and two medium soft drinks.

There will also be an option to swap the two Portuguese egg tarts for two of the Purple Sweet Potato Egg Tarts.

Alongside the food and character cards, customers spending at least HK$49 can add up to two pieces of limited-edition Evangelion merchandise to each order at their promotional prices.

The Evangelion Character Message Stand, priced at HK$59 (approx. $8 USD / £6 GBP), is randomly supplied in one of three designs featuring Shinji and EVA-01, Asuka and EVA-02, or Rei and EVA-00.

Each stand can hold sticky notes and can also be written on repeatedly using a water-based marker, giving the collectible a practical use on a desk or workspace.
The Shinji and EVA-01 Mug, priced at HK$89 (approx. $11 USD / £8 GBP), brings the pilot and his Evangelion together on a more traditional piece of collaboration merchandise.

The EVA-01 Multipurpose Mat, priced at HK$99 (approx. $13 USD / £9 GBP), uses artwork centered on the franchise’s most recognizable Evangelion and is the largest of the three add-on collectibles.

KFC’s Causeway Bay flagship restaurant has received the most extensive makeover, with large character and Evangelion graphics covering the storefront, walls and dining areas to create a dedicated photo spot inspired by the futuristic world of the series.

The themed restaurant is located at Shop A1 across the ground, first and second floors of the East South Building at 29 Percival Street in Causeway Bay.

The KFC Hong Kong x Evangelion collaboration began on July 23, 2026 and will run until August 31, with the exclusive menu, cards and merchandise available only while supplies last.

The promotion is available at participating KFC restaurants across Hong Kong and Macau, excluding the AsiaWorld-Expo, Festival Walk, Kai Tak Sports Park and Chi Fu Landmark locations.
