Hatsune Miku Performs Sonic 35th Anniversary Song’s Japanese Version

SEGA has expanded the celebrations for Sonic the Hedgehog’s 35th anniversary by unveiling new multilingual versions of the official anniversary song while announcing a brand-new Hatsune Miku-themed event for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds.
The anniversary anthem, titled “Speed Is My Life,” was originally written by Tee Lopes, composed by Sonic series sound director Jun Senoue, and performed in English by NateWantsToBattle.

A newly released Japanese arrangement, titled “Onsoku wo Koete (Beyond the Speed of Sound),” features acclaimed sound producer and composer Yunosuke, who reimagined the track with virtual singer Hatsune Miku providing the vocals.

Alongside the Japanese version, SEGA has also released a Chinese-language arrangement titled “Here We Go ~ Run to the Future,” which was both produced and performed by virtual artist Yousa.

All language versions of the anniversary song have now been added to the in-game jukebox featured in Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, allowing players to use the tracks as background music while racing.

Music videos for each arrangement have also been released, while the songs are now available across digital download and music streaming platforms.

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds will also celebrate the collaboration with the upcoming “Hatsune Miku 2nd Festa” in-game event.

Players will be able to earn Festa Points throughout the event in exchange for exclusive in-game rewards, although SEGA has confirmed that the event schedule and full reward lineup will be revealed at a later date.

Sonic the Hedgehog first debuted in the original Sonic the Hedgehog game in 1991 before growing into one of SEGA’s most recognizable global franchises.

Over the past three and a half decades, the blue hedgehog has expanded far beyond video games through blockbuster movies, animated productions, music projects, and a wide range of licensed merchandise.

The Sonic series has now surpassed 1.77 billion total downloads and sales worldwide across both premium and free-to-play titles, reflecting the franchise’s enduring popularity with multiple generations of fans.

SEGA marked Sonic’s 35th anniversary on June 23, 2026, and continues to celebrate the milestone with new music, collaborations, in-game events, and other projects, such as a live concert world tour, designed to bring fresh experiences to fans around the world.
