Miku inspired Japanese sweets created for new themed tea ceremony experience in Japan

Kyoto is currently hosting the “Hatsune Studio KIMONO SHOW 2025 KYOTO” event, which celebrates traditional Japanese craftsmanship.
The event is showcasing a variety of stunning works created by Kyoto’s traditional craft artisans and Japanese confectionery masters, all inspired by the virtual pop star Hatsune Miku.

Hatsune Miku is a virtual pop idol known for her distinctive turquoise pigtails and futuristic aesthetic.

Her concerts, featuring holographic performances, draw massive crowds worldwide.
This latest event in Kyoto combine Miku’s modern appeal with centuries-old Japanese artistic traditions.

Kyoto itself is a city steeped in history and culture, renowned for its heritage crafts, including kimono, dyeing, and wagashi (Japanese confectionery).
A major attraction of the event is the special “Hatsune Tea Ceremony,” held in collaboration with Sasaya Iori, a highly respected long-established Japanese confectionery shop in Kyoto.

Sasaya Iori, founded in 1716, boasts a rich history of supporting Kyoto’s confectionery culture, having served as the official confectioner for the historic Toji Temple.
Their signature dorayaki, a type of Japanese red bean pancake, is so exclusive it’s traditionally sold only three days a month.
In modern times, Sasaya Iori has also developed the “Sasarakuan” tearoom, a dedicated space located within Hotel Emion Kyoto, where they hold traditional tea ceremonies with new and innovative elements.

The “Hatsune Tea Ceremony” offers an authentic and immersive experience at Sasarakuan.
Visitors can choose to enjoy one of several Hatsune Miku themed experiences.
Tea Ceremony Experience

Running daily from June 21st to 29th, this experience allows participants to learn the fundamentals of the traditional Japanese tea ceremony.

It includes a formal tea serving and a “tea ceremony experience” alongside specially crafted Hatsune Miku-themed Japanese sweets.

Scheduled for June 27th, this hands-on workshop allows participants to learn the art of making original Hatsune Miku-themed Japanese sweets under the direct guidance of a craftsman.

Each sweets making session accommodates a maximum of 15 people, with two sessions planned.
Attendees are encouraged to dress in casual attire for the tea ceremonies and experience sessions as organizers would like the events to have an approachable and welcoming atmosphere for all fans.

All experiences require advance reservations to ensure participation. Detailed information, including specific times for each experience and reservation forms, can be found on the Sasarakuan WEB page.
Running from June 21st to June 29th, the highlight of the wider “Hatsune Studio KIMONO SHOW 2025 KYOTO” event, the “KIMONO SHOW,” is scheduled to take place in front of Kyoto Station on June 28th.
