Bandai Confirms US Re-Release for Gundam Build Fighters' Exclusive Turn A Gundam Shin Gunpla Kit

Bandai has confirmed a new US re-release for an exclusive High Grade Gunpla kit based on the heavily modified Turn A Gundam Shin.

The “HGBF 1/144 ∀GUNDAM SHIN” originates from Gundam Build Fighters Honoo Try, a Japanese photonovel side story connected to Gundam Build Fighters Try that follows Gunpla builders competing through customized mobile suits.

Bandai originally released the exclusive kit in Japan during November 2015, with demand leading to an additional production run scheduled for January 2016 shortly afterwards.

Turn A Gundam Shin was created by Shinya Shimizu using the original ∀ Gundam as its base, retaining the familiar proportions of Syd Mead’s mobile suit while substantially reworking several areas with sharper and more mechanical detailing.

Those changes are carried across to the Gunpla through newly molded parts for the head, chest, shoulders, front skirt armor, knees, and backpack, giving the finished model a noticeably different silhouette from the standard HG Turn A Gundam.

The face receives one of the biggest changes, moving away from the unusual appearance of the original Turn A Gundam toward a more conventional Gundam-style look, while the body uses an ivory-colored finish in place of the brighter white associated with its base kit.

A 3mm mounting point on the backpack also allows compatible Build Custom equipment and other accessories to be attached, reflecting the customization-focused approach that defines the wider Gundam Build Fighters line.

The included weapon selection consists of a Beam Rifle, Beam Sabers, and Shield, while a dedicated sticker sheet adds the Turn A Gundam Shin’s markings and colored dot details across the completed model.

Several other Turn A Gundam kits have also returned for US fans during 2026, including the exclusive “MG 1/100 ∀GUNDAM (MOONLIGHT BUTTERFLY Ver.),” which combines pearl and metallic finishes with enormous holographic effect parts.

Another special release followed through the “MG 1/100 ∀ GUNDAM / TURN X [NANO-SKIN IMAGE]” set, pairing the two rival mobile suits with metallic molding colors inspired by their self-repairing Nano-Skin armor.

Gundam Build Fighters has also gained new Gunpla releases within the last year, including the Gundam Base-exclusive “MG 1/100 SENGOKU ASTRAY GUNDAM [METALLIC]” that launched in late 2025.

Pre-orders for the “HGBF 1/144 ∀GUNDAM SHIN,” priced at $27, are now open exclusively through Premium Bandai US and are scheduled to remain available until January 16, 2027 at 2:59 AM EST.
