New Hatsune Miku T-shirt is hand painted with gold and costs over $300

Ahead of a new Hatsune Miku event in Kyoto, a selection of collaborative merchandise from local artisans has been revealed.
The “Hatsune Studio KIMONO SHOW 2025 KYOTO” event is a celebration of local crafts and one of the new items created for the event is an exclusive Hatsune Miku T-shirt.
The new T-shirt has been hand-painted with gold, and fans will need to pay over $300 to own it – provided they’re lucky enough to get their hands on one of the 100 that will be made.

The “KIMONO SHOW” event aims to highlight the intricate skills of Kyoto’s artisans while celebrating the unique aesthetic of Hatsune Miku.
Hatsune Miku is a Vocaloid software persona developed by Crypton Future Media.
She has transcended her origins as a singing synthesizer to become a global cultural phenomenon, inspiring countless fan creations, concerts, and collaborations across various industries, including a recently announced team up with a top Japanese baseball team.

Her distinctive turquoise pigtails and futuristic attire make her a recognizable figure, and her fusion with traditional Japanese arts and crafts reflects a growing trend of bridging modern pop culture with historical craftsmanship.
Kyoto, a city deeply rooted in tradition, is an ideal setting for such an event as it is still home to centuries-old techniques in textiles, dyeing, and fan-making.

The collaborative goods, crafted by established Kyoto artisans, offer a unique blend of Japanese tradition and contemporary sensibility.
Let’s take a look at the T-shirt and the other exclusive Hatsune Miku merchandise that will be available!
- Gold Color Limited Edition T-shirt

This exclusive T-shirt is limited to just 100 pieces and each one will come with a serial number.

It will be priced at 49,800 yen (approx. $340 USD / £253 GBP) and features a glittering silhouette of Hatsune Miku, hand-painted with gold leaf and gold powder on black fabric.

The garment itself is produced by Kume Seni, a long-established Japanese T-shirt manufacturer.

The artwork on each shirt is hand-painted by Miyake Masaki, a traditional gold leaf craftsman who works at Miyake Kogei in Kyoto.

The design is painted using specialized techniques in applying gold leaf and gold powder that are commonly used in kimono making.

The golden silhouette of Hatune Miku is outlined by a mother-of-pearl border.
- Kyoto Folding Fan

This special Hatsune Miku fan is a collaboration with Onishi Tsune Shoten, a Kyoto fan maker.

Onishi Tsune Shoten specializes in Kyo–sensu (Kyoto folding fans), a craft with a history dating back to the 9th century.

The fan’s design showcases the key visual for the “Hatsune Studio KIMONO SHOW 2025 KYOTO” drawn by artist “Touki”, depicting Hatsune Miku in a bold composition and delicate brushstrokes.
It will be priced at 5,980 yen (approx. $40.94 USD / £30.45 GBP).
- Hand-printed Tenugui

This traditional Japanese towel is a collaboration with Washino Dyeing Factory, a long-established dyeing factory in Kyoto.

Based on a design by artist Fuuki, the tenugui features an impressive color scheme utilizing Hatsune Miku’s signature colors.

It is carefully finished using traditional hand-printing techniques, which allow for subtle overlapping and depth of colors, vividly reproduced on the cloth.

The tenugui is a versatile Japanese cloth that is popular as a hand towel, handkerchief, lunch cloth, interior decoration, or gift.
The tenugui will be available for 2,980 yen (approx. $20.40 USD / £15.17).
As the Hatsune Miku T-shirt is a limited edition, only the first batch of 60 pieces from the limited series of 100 is available for pre-sale.

These collaborative products are all available for pre-sale at Becos, the event’s official online store.
The remaining 40 T-shirts will be available for purchase at the main event of the “Hatsune Studio KIMONO SHOW 2025 KYOTO”, which will be the “KIMONO SHOW” on June 28th, taking place in front of Kyoto Station from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
The event will run other activities including tea ceremonies within Kyoto between June 21st to 29th.
