Gundam X’s Exclusive HG Airmaster Burst Gunpla Kit Returns for New US Re-Release
Bandai has officially confirmed a new US re-release for the exclusive HG 1/144 Gundam Airmaster Burst, offering builders another chance to add After War Gundam X’s unique transforming Mobile Suit to their collection.
The Airmaster Burst is the upgraded form of Witz Sou’s Gundam Airmaster, replacing the original Mobile Suit’s predominantly red colors with a blue scheme while improving its aerial performance and firepower.
Witz pilots the Airmaster throughout Gundam X as one of the Mobile Suit riders who joins the crew of the Freeden, with the damaged machine eventually rebuilt and upgraded into the Airmaster Burst during the series.
Bandai originally released the HG Airmaster Burst as a Premium Bandai exclusive in 2020, building on the standard HGAW Gundam Airmaster kit while introducing newly molded parts for the upgraded form.
The kit has already received another Japanese reissue during Gundam X’s 30th anniversary year, with its latest US return giving builders another opportunity to add the upgraded Airmaster to their collection.
Those changes are most visible around the backpack, which adds the Airmaster Burst’s distinctive Booster Beam Cannons alongside redesigned wings and additional equipment used to improve its flight capabilities.
New parts are also used for the chest, shoulders, front armor and knees, helping recreate the differences between the Burst and Witz’s original Gundam Airmaster rather than relying solely on the change in color.
The Booster Beam Cannons and wings incorporate movable elements, allowing their positioning to be adjusted when posing the Mobile Suit or preparing it for transformation.
Transformation remains one of the kit’s biggest features, with parts swapping allowing the Airmaster Burst to change from its standard Mobile Suit configuration into Fighter Mode.
That flight form adds a Nose Beam Cannon beneath the front of the aircraft, while the included pair of Buster Rifles can be mounted alongside the arms to complete its airborne weapons layout.
The Airmaster Burst has received extra attention alongside the rest of Gundam X during its 30th anniversary, with Bandai also bringing several older kits from the series back into circulation during 2026.
That has included reissues of the HG Daughtress and older 1/100 Gundam X kits, while the franchise has also expanded its modern High Grade lineup with releases such as the Gundam Leopard.
The HG 1/144 Gundam Airmaster Burst is now available to pre-order exclusively through Premium Bandai US for $33, with orders scheduled to close on December 16, 2026, at 2:59 AM EST unless the available allocation sells out earlier.
The new US batch is scheduled to ship in January 2027.
