Bandai Confirms Re-Release After Gundam X’s Latest Gunpla Kit Sells Out Within Days

Bandai is giving builders another opportunity to secure one of its latest Gundam X releases after the new HG 1/144 Gundam Leopard quickly sold through its initial allocation.
Released on August 8 in Japan, the HG 1/144 Gundam Leopard sold out within days of its release, leading to Bandai confirming a new round of orders for the much sought-after kit.

Gundam Leopard appears in After War Gundam X, the alternative-universe series that began airing in 1996 and follows Garrod Ran and the crew of the Freeden through a post-apocalyptic world shaped by the devastating events of the 7th Space War.

Piloted by Roybea Loy, Gundam Leopard provides the Freeden team with overwhelming ranged firepower, carrying guns, Gatling weapons, and missile launchers across much of its heavily armored body.

The new release arrives during Gundam X’s 30th anniversary year and gives the original Gundam Leopard its first modern HG treatment, following the considerably simpler 1/144 model released during the anime’s original run.

Bandai has recreated the mobile suit’s green, white, and dark gray appearance while packing the 1/144 scale model with opening armor and deployable weapons that allow its extensive arsenal to become a major part of the finished display.

Its large Inner Arm Gatling can switch between configurations before connecting to the left arm, with the forearm fitting inside the weapon to reproduce Gundam Leopard’s firing position from the anime.

Opening panels across the chest expose the Breast Gatling weapons, while movable sections on the shoulders and legs reveal the Shoulder Missiles and Hornet Missiles concealed beneath the armor.

A separate Missile Pod expands the ranged weapon selection further, while the included Beam Knife gives Roybea’s mobile suit a smaller close-combat option alongside its much heavier weaponry.

The HG 1/144 Gundam Leopard is priced at ¥2,420 (approx. $16 USD / £11 GBP), and this latest round of orders will be handled via a lottery sale through Premium Bandai Japan, with entries being accepted until 3:00 PM JST on August 16, 2026.

The kit is a general retail release rather than a Premium Bandai exclusive, meaning that it may be possible to find it in some physical hobby stores in Japan instead of ordering online.

International fans can expect the kit to arrive in hobby goods stores in the US and other international markets over the coming weeks and months, though in all cases, as demand is high, it’s unlikely that it will stay available for long as and when it does appear.

Premium Bandai US also previously offered the HG Gundam Leopard for pre-order earlier this year, quickly selling through its allocation, and while another US batch has yet to be confirmed, the new Japanese restock makes it quite likely that it will reappear through the official US store
in the near future.
