Bandai Reveals New Gundam: IBO Graze Ein FULL MECHANICS Gunpla Kit
Image by Charlotte DavisOne of Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans’ most intimidating mobile suits is getting a substantial new Gunpla release, with Graze Ein officially joining Bandai’s 1/100 FULL MECHANICS series.
The new “FULL MECHANICS Graze Ein” stands approximately 25 cm tall when complete, and combines the machine’s large proportions with updated articulation, added mechanical detailing, and a surprisingly extensive collection of built-in weapons and gimmicks.
Graze Ein appears toward the end of the first season of Iron-Blooded Orphans amid the disturbing conclusion of Ein Dalton’s increasingly obsessive pursuit of Tekkadan.
After Ein is critically wounded and cannot be restored through conventional regenerative treatment, Gaelio Bauduin has him connected to the experimental Graze Ein through Gjallarhorn’s version of the Alaya-Vijnana System.
The mobile suit effectively becomes both Ein’s new body and life-support system, with his own body incorporated directly into the machine as part of the interface.
Its elongated limbs and huge frame were designed to work with the enhanced reactions provided by the Alaya-Vijnana System, allowing the machine to move with an agility that contrasts sharply with its size.
A prototype of the new FULL MECHANICS kit was first shown to visitors at the 64th Shizuoka Hobby Show.
It recreates that imposing appearance at 1/100 scale while adding the denser surface detailing associated with the modern series.
The head includes an opening face guard that exposes the main camera underneath, with different expressions for the camera recreated using included plastic stickers.
Several joint components have also been newly designed or updated, allowing the finished Graze Ein to reproduce the aggressive close-range movements that defined its battles in the anime.
Its feet can transform directly into the Drill Kick configuration without needing replacement parts, while the concealed thruster nozzles in the calves can also deploy.
The shoulder-mounted machine guns are fully integrated into the model and can be opened for firing poses, adding another weapon option without requiring separate accessories.
Both forearms contain deployable pile bunkers, recreating another of Graze Ein’s brutal close-combat weapons directly within the arms.
The Spiral Knuckle attack is handled differently, using a dedicated pair of replacement hands to reproduce the rotating punch configuration.
Two of Graze Ein’s huge dedicated axes are also included, allowing the model to recreate its more conventional close-range attacks alongside the built-in weapon systems.
An Action Base is supplied with the kit as well, making it easier to support the unusually tall mobile suit during more aggressive poses.
The complete accessory selection also includes replacement main-camera parts, metallic 3D stickers and marking stickers for adding further detail to the finished model.
Graze Ein arrives during a particularly large wave of new releases, following recent reveals including the RG Ground Type Gundam, HG Hamma-Hamma, MGSD 00 Raiser, MGEX Mighty Strike Freedom Gundam and a new PG UNLEASHED Nu Gundam expansion kit.
Bandai has also recently shown the first look at painted prototypes of the HG Gundam ZERO and Gundam Helix, as well as officially launching the new ABSOLUTE ACT series, which will feature Strike Freedom Gundam as its first release.
