Gundam ZZ’s Hamma-Hamma Is Finally Getting a New HG Gunpla Kit

Bandai has officially announced a new High Grade Gunpla based on the Hamma-Hamma that will see the unique Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ machine return as a modern 1/144 scale kit.
The HG 1/144 Hamma-Hamma was one of several new models revealed during Bandai’s first “Latest! Gunpla Info Bureau” broadcast, alongside major announcements for The 08th MS Team, Gundam 00 and Gundam SEED Freedom.

Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ introduced the Hamma-Hamma as an experimental Neo Zeon mobile suit tested by Mashymre Cello and the crew of the Endra.
Its imposing proportions and unusual weapons helped distinguish it from many of the more conventional mobile suits appearing early in the series, with wired Psycommu technology allowing its forearms to separate from the main body and attack remotely.
Each arm carries a three-barrel beam cannon, giving the Hamma-Hamma six beam weapons that can be repositioned independently once the forearms are deployed.

Bandai is bringing that feature into the new HG with flexible lead wires connecting the detached sections to the main body, allowing the three-barrel beam cannons to be displayed in a variety of extended firing positions.
A physical prototype was not shown during the broadcast, meaning Bandai is still holding back a closer look at the finished proportions, articulation, weapons and other equipment included with the kit.

The Hamma-Hamma announcement is significant in its own right for Gundam ZZ collectors, as the mobile suit has received comparatively little attention from Bandai’s modern Gunpla lines despite its memorable appearance and connection to one of the anime’s recurring early antagonists.
The same presentation also confirmed that Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team’s Ground Type Gundam is finally joining the Real Grade lineup.

The RG 1/144 Ground Type Gundam puts particular emphasis on the grounded combat poses seen throughout the OVA, with its articulation designed to support the deep kneeling stance used when firing the 180mm Cannon.

Bandai showed a prototype during the broadcast and also demonstrated an opening rear container, while a dedicated stand for the shield allows it to be positioned independently when recreating the cannon firing pose.

Gundam 00 received another major addition with the MGSD 00 Raiser, recreating the combination of the 00 Gundam and 0 Raiser through Bandai’s high-end super-deformed line.

The first look showed features including deployable GN Drives and a particularly large beam effect, combining the exaggerated proportions of an SD kit with the articulation, internal construction and mechanical detailing associated with MGSD.

The broadcast’s highest-end announcement came from the return of MASTER GRADE EXTREME, with the MGEX 1/100 Mighty Strike Freedom Gundam officially confirmed as the next release in the series.

The Mighty Strike Freedom appears during the climax of Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Freedom when the Proud Defender combines with Kira Yamato’s Strike Freedom Gundam Type II, replacing its familiar DRAGOON wings with the large white and gold backpack seen in the movie.

Its selection also gives MGEX its first completely new mobile suit since the Strike Freedom Gundam arrived in 2022, following a line that previously began with the Unicorn Gundam Ver.Ka in 2020.

The HG 1/144 Hamma-Hamma is priced at ¥4,400 (approx. $28 USD / £20 GBP), with its Japanese release scheduled for March 2027.
The RG 1/144 Ground Type Gundam is priced at ¥4,620 (approx. $29 USD / £21 GBP) and is scheduled for release in February 2027.

The MGSD 00 Raiser is priced at ¥6,050 (approx. $38 USD / £28 GBP), with its release planned for March 2027.
The MGEX 1/100 Mighty Strike Freedom Gundam is priced at ¥6,400 (approx. $40 USD / £29 GBP) and will also launch in March 2027.
