Bandai Previews New MGSD 00 Raiser Gunpla Kit Ahead of 2027 Release

Bandai has officially announced a new high-end SD Gunpla based on the 00 Raiser from Mobile Suit Gundam 00, adding another major protagonist machine to the MGSD lineup.
The MGSD 00 Raiser was revealed during Bandai’s first “Latest! Gunpla Info Bureau” broadcast, which also delivered new Gunpla announcements for Gundam ZZ, The 08th MS Team, and Gundam SEED Freedom.

Mobile Suit Gundam 00 follows Setsuna F. Seiei and the other Gundam Meisters of Celestial Being as they attempt to end armed conflict through overwhelming military intervention.

Setsuna initially pilots the 00 Gundam during the anime’s second season, with the mobile suit built around the Twin Drive System that uses two GN Drives simultaneously to generate enormous quantities of GN particles.

Its full potential is unlocked after combining with the support unit known as the 0 Raiser, creating the 00 Raiser and stabilizing the Twin Drive System while dramatically increasing the Gundam’s capabilities.
Bandai is now adapting that combined form to MGSD, its high-end SD range that pairs compact proportions with dense mechanical detailing, extensive articulation and more elaborate construction than a conventional SD Gunpla.

The first look at the new kit confirms that the 0 Raiser will form the large equipment extending from the Gundam’s shoulders and back, preserving the recognizable silhouette of the combined mobile suit despite its shortened proportions.

Bandai also demonstrated a deployment gimmick for the GN Drives, adding movement around one of the areas most closely associated with the 00 Gundam and its Twin Drive System.

Another standout addition is a particularly large beam effect part, giving the compact model a much more dramatic option for displaying the 00 Raiser’s attacks.

The combination of oversized equipment and exaggerated beam effects should suit MGSD particularly well, allowing the 00 Raiser to retain much of the visual impact of its larger Gunpla counterparts without abandoning the proportions that define the line.
Gundam ZZ was represented elsewhere in the broadcast by the newly announced HG 1/144 Hamma-Hamma, finally bringing Mashymre Cello’s unusual Neo Zeon mobile suit back as a modern High Grade kit.

Its wired Psycommu-equipped forearms use flexible lead wires when deployed, allowing the three-barrel beam cannons mounted in each arm to be positioned away from the body in different firing configurations.
Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team also received a major addition with the RG 1/144 Ground Type Gundam, which was shown in prototype form during the presentation.

Bandai has placed particular attention on reproducing its characteristic kneeling position when firing the 180mm Cannon, while the kit also includes an opening rear container and a dedicated stand that allows the shield to support the firing pose.

The highest-end reveal came from the MGEX lineup, with the MGEX 1/100 Mighty Strike Freedom Gundam confirming Kira Yamato’s final Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Freedom machine as the next MASTER GRADE EXTREME release.

The Mighty Strike Freedom combines the Strike Freedom Gundam Type II with the Proud Defender, replacing the familiar DRAGOON-equipped wings with the large white and gold system used during the movie’s climactic battle.

The MGSD 00 Raiser is priced at ¥6,050 (approx. $38 USD / £28 GBP) and is scheduled for release in Japan during March 2027.
The HG 1/144 Hamma-Hamma is priced at ¥4,400 (approx. $28 USD / £20 GBP) and will also arrive in March 2027.

The RG 1/144 Ground Type Gundam is priced at ¥4,620 (approx. $29 USD / £21 GBP), with its Japanese release planned for February 2027.
The MGEX 1/100 Mighty Strike Freedom Gundam is priced at ¥6,400 (approx. $40 USD / £29 GBP) and is scheduled to launch in March 2027.
