Bandai Officially Launches Gundam’s First New Figure Line in 7 Years
Bandai has officially revealed the first complete look at ABSOLUTE ACT, a brand new Gundam figure series built around reproducing the dramatic action poses of mobile suits as they appear on screen.
ABSOLUTE ACT was first teased in July alongside an early look at the Strike Freedom, but Bandai has now fully revealed how the new range intends to distinguish itself from its existing Gundam figure brands.
Rather than placing its main emphasis on metal construction or complex mechanical detailing, ABSOLUTE ACT has been developed specifically around articulation, silhouette and the ability to recreate exaggerated combat poses.
The new figure line will effectively form a bridging point between higher-end releases such as METAL ROBOT SPIRITS, which offers die-cast parts and a high level of articulation, and more affordable, less articulate, completed action figure lines like GUNDAM UNIVERSE.
ABSOLUTE ACT is also the first completely new Gundam figure brand launched by Bandai Spirits since METAL STRUCTURE KAITAI-SHOU-KI debuted with the RX-93 Nu Gundam in December 2019.
The first release will be the “ABSOLUTE ACT Strike Freedom Gundam,” bringing Kira Yamato’s iconic Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny machine to the new line when it launches in 2027.
One of ABSOLUTE ACT’s main features is a rail mechanism through the waist that allows the torso and lower body to shift considerably further during dynamic movement.
A separate neck extension system lets the head move forward from the torso, helping poses where the Strike Freedom is leaning aggressively into an attack look more natural.
The shoulders can also pull outward to increase the available range when positioning the Beam Rifles or Beam Sabers, particularly when the arms need to cross or extend further in front of the body.
Bandai has taken a similar approach with the lower body, giving the ankles flexible movement designed to keep the feet planted during wide-legged poses.
The legs use a single-axis articulation system intended to prevent the proportions from becoming stretched or awkward when the knees are bent, maintaining a cleaner silhouette even during more extreme positioning.
Together, those mechanisms allow the Strike Freedom to reproduce poses that would normally be difficult for a completed Gundam figure without compromising the appearance of the mobile suit.
The first release also includes the Strike Freedom’s two High-Energy Beam Rifles, which can be displayed separately or connected together for its longer-range firing configuration.
Its Beam Sabers can similarly be combined, while Beam Shield parts and multiple interchangeable hands provide further options for recreating scenes from Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny.
A dedicated display base is included with a bendable support arm, allowing the figure to be positioned in airborne poses that make greater use of the Strike Freedom’s large wing arrangement.
The full reveal of ABSOLUTE ACT arrives as Bandai is also preparing to reveal new announcements for both the METAL STRUCTURE series and the METAL ROBOT SPIRITS releases connected to the Gundam x hololive Production collaboration.
Bandai also recently introduced a huge new wave of Gunpla kits including the RG Ground Type Gundam, HG Hamma-Hamma, MGSD 00 Raiser and MGEX Mighty Strike Freedom Gundam alongside a major PG UNLEASHED Nu Gundam expansion, as well as new looks at Gundam ZERO and Gundam Helix.
That makes ABSOLUTE ACT part of a much wider wave of Gundam releases coming in 2027, although its emphasis on highly expressive posing gives the new brand a different purpose from the model kits and more mechanically focused completed figures that form the METAL ROBOT SPIRITS line.
Fans in Japan will get their first opportunity to see the finished ABSOLUTE ACT Strike Freedom Gundam on display during Tokyo Toy Show 2026, which runs from August 27 through August 30.
The ABSOLUTE ACT Strike Freedom Gundam will be priced at ¥16,500 (approx. $103 USD / £76 GBP) and will be sold through online retailers such as HobbyLink Japan, hobby stores, electronics retailers, and TAMASHII NATIONS STORE locations across Japan when it arrives in March 2027.
A US release will also likely appear through Premium Bandai US
, though Bandai is yet to officially confirm international availability.
