Bandai has fully revealed Gundam X’s new HG Gundam Virsago, offering fans the best look yet at the new Gunpla kit ahead of its launch later this week.
“HG 1/144 Gundam Virsago” recreates Shagia Frost’s heavily armed Mobile Suit with completely new tooling, with the latest images showing the finished model from multiple angles alongside its major weapons and attack configurations.

After War Gundam X originally aired in 1996 and takes place on an Earth devastated by the Seventh Space War, following Garrod Ran and Tiffa Adill as they become caught up in the continuing struggle over Newtypes and advanced technology left behind by the conflict.

Shagia and his younger brother Olba Frost emerge as two of the series’ major antagonists, piloting Gundam Virsago and Gundam Ashtaron respectively and frequently combining the capabilities of their two Mobile Suits in battle.

Bandai originally announced modern High Grade kits of both Gundams in May 2026, bringing the Frost brothers’ machines back to the format with completely new models three decades after their original kits.

Virsago’s latest HG design updates its proportions, sculpting, and articulation while retaining the unusual weapons that define Shagia’s Mobile Suit.

Its long Strike Claws can extend substantially from both forearms, allowing the clawed hands to reach opponents at a distance or brace the Gundam during attacks.

Each claw also houses a Claw Beam Cannon, while the abdominal armor can open to expose the powerful Mega Sonic Cannon and recreate its firing configuration.

The new official images provide a much clearer look at that mechanism, showing the torso opened around the cannon with Virsago’s rear sections spread and its extended arms positioned ready for attack.

Two Strike Shooters are included as separate weapons and can also be joined together using a dedicated connecting part, alongside a Beam Saber and interchangeable clenched and weapon-holding hands.

Bandai revealed the new kit’s box artwork over the weekend, depicting Virsago firing its Mega Sonic Cannon with Gundam Ashtaron visible behind it.

A subtle reference for longtime fans also sees one of the newly published product images recreate a pose used for Gundam Virsago’s original 1996 model-kit packaging.

The new Virsago has also been designed to work alongside the upcoming “HG 1/144 Gundam Ashtaron”, which recreates Olba Frost’s Mobile Suit with extendable Atomic Scissors and a transformation into its Mobile Armor configuration.

Builders can position Virsago on top of the transformed Ashtaron to reproduce the Frost brothers’ combined aerial battle configuration, making the two newly tooled kits a complementary pair rather than isolated additions to the HG lineup.

Both form part of Bandai’s wider celebration of After War Gundam X’s 30th anniversary, which has also produced the first HG Gunpla kit of the GX-Bit and the first Master Grade Gundam X Divider.

Bandai has also brought five classic 1/100-scale Gundam X kits back into production for the anniversary, including the older Gundam Virsago alongside Gundam Double X, Gundam Leopard Destroy, and Gundam Airmaster Burst.
