Two New Gundam X HG Gunpla Kits Announced by Bandai
Bandai has officially revealed two new Gunpla model kits based on popular mobile suits from After War Gundam X.
The “HG 1/144 Gundam Virsago” and “HG 1/144 Gundam Ashtaron” faithfully recreate the formidable machines piloted by the Frost brothers Shagia and Olba.
High Grade models provide builders with detailed 1/144 scale recreations that emphasize poseability and color accuracy.
After War Gundam X follows the story of a post-apocalyptic Earth where survivors scavenge for technology after a massive war destroyed human civilization.
The Gundam Virsago and Gundam Ashtaron serve as the primary antagonist units throughout the series and are designed to work in tandem on the battlefield.
The Gundam Virsago features a striking red color scheme and specialized arms meant for long-reach melee combat, while the Gundam Ashtaron provides heavy support with its transformation capabilities.
Both releases utilize completely new molds to capture the unique mechanical details of these late-series mobile suits.
Builders can extend the arms of the Gundam Virsago and open the chest armor to reveal the devastating Megalaire triple sonic cannon.
The Gundam Ashtaron includes a transformation mechanism for its flight mode and features the massive Atomic Scissors used to crush opposing mobile suits.
These two kits are designed to connect to perform their combined signature attack as seen in the television series.
This reveal was part of a larger announcement at the 64th Shizuoka Hobby Show featuring six additional kits from series like Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans, Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM, and Mobile Fighter G Gundam:
- “FULL MECHANICS 1/100 Graze Ein”
This kit brings the massive mechanical terror from Iron-Blooded Orphans to the 1/100 scale with a focus on its specialized melee axes.
- “MG 1/100 Gundam Liberty Astray Red Frame”
This Master Grade release introduces a brand-new iteration of the Red Frame as featured in the SEED FREEDOM ASTRAY manga.
- “HG 1/144 Gundam Spiegel”
Fans of G Gundam will appreciate this modern High Grade update to the ninja-inspired mobile fighter representing Neo Germany.
- “HG 1/144 Gyan (Hakuji Equipment)”
This version features the mobile suit in its standard unit colors and will be distributed via a specialized lottery system on the official store.
- “HG 1/144 Z’Gok (SEED FREEDOM Ver.) [Clear Color]” (Gundam Base Exclusive) (Gundam Base Exclusive)
The model uses transparent armor parts to highlight the internal structure of the suit featured in the SEED FREEDOM film.
- “MG 1/100 Gundam Kyrios (Trans-Am Mode) [Metallic Gloss Injection]” (Gundam Base Exclusive)
This release uses a shimmering finish to replicate the high-energy Trans-Am state of the transforming suit from Mobile Suit Gundam 00.
Pre-orders for the “HG 1/144 Gyan (Hakuji Equipment)” are set to open on May 15 via Premium Bandai.
Pre-order dates for all other revealed Gunpla kits are yet to be confirmed and prices and shipping dates for all kits, including the Gyan, have not been announced at the time of writing.
