Gundam Barbatos has returned to Premium Bandai US in a striking blue and purple finish, with a limited-edition Master Grade Gunpla kit now available online for a short time.

The “MG 1/100 GUNDAM BARBATOS [CROSS CONTRAST COLORS / POLARIZED INJECTION]” is among more than 200 Gunpla kits and related accessories included in Gundam Winter Fest 2026, which brings together a large selection of returning models and special editions for US collectors.

Gundam Barbatos originates from Mobile Suit Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans, the 2015 anime that followed Mikazuki Augus and the members of Tekkadan, a group of young soldiers fighting to establish their independence on Mars.

The ASW-G-08 Gundam Barbatos was one of 72 Gundam Frames originally developed during the Calamity War, later rediscovered and restored for use by Tekkadan, with Mikazuki serving as its primary pilot.

Its Fourth Form became one of the Mobile Suit’s most familiar appearances, combining newly restored armor with the exposed mechanical structure and powerful close-combat weapons that helped define the design.

Bandai originally released the limited-edition Cross Contrast Colors Master Grade in December 2024, following an announcement through its Chinese division earlier that year.

The kit formed part of the third wave of the Cross Contrast Colors collection, which uses alternative color schemes and different molding techniques to transform the appearance of established Gundam designs.

This particular release was introduced alongside the “MG 1/100 Gundam Astray Red Frame Kai [Cross Contrast Colors / Polarized Injection],” with the two models adopting contrasting red and blue color schemes.

Based on the standard “MG 1/100 Gundam Barbatos” from December 2019, the special edition replaces its familiar white exterior with a combination of dark metallic blue, violet, and silver armor components.

Its biggest attraction is the use of Polarized Injection molding, which produces surfaces that shift between blue and purple tones depending on the viewing angle and surrounding light.

The effect is complemented by metallic blue components within the mechanical structure, creating a more unified appearance across the armor and exposed sections of the Gundam Frame.

Silver details around the chest, head, and waist provide contrast against the darker exterior, preserving the recognizable features of Barbatos’ Fourth Form while giving the completed model an entirely different appearance.

The kit retains the extensive internal engineering of the original Master Grade, including its detailed Gundam Frame, movable mechanical cylinders, and rotating Ahab Reactor components within the chest.

Bandai designed the underlying frame to reproduce the Mobile Suit’s mechanical structure as closely as possible, with linked articulation allowing the armor and internal components to move together during posing.

The shoulders incorporate extending cylinder mechanisms that follow the movement of the arms, while the knees use a similar arrangement to improve flexibility and reproduce the Gundam’s aggressive fighting stances.

Its equipment includes Barbatos’ signature Mace, which features an extendable handle and movable tip, alongside a large Sword and a 300mm Smoothbore Gun.

The gun incorporates a folding barrel mechanism that allows it to be stored more compactly, with attachment components for carrying weapons on the Mobile Suit’s backpack.

Interchangeable hands are also provided, allowing builders to recreate different weapon-holding positions and open-handed combat poses associated with Mikazuki’s fighting style.

Gundam Winter Fest 2026 began on November 6 at 5:00 PM PST and runs until November 30 at 11:59 PM PST, featuring a large selection of returning Gunpla kits, limited editions, and building accessories through Premium Bandai US.

The “MG 1/100 GUNDAM BARBATOS [CROSS CONTRAST COLORS / POLARIZED INJECTION]” is currently in stock for $86, although quantities may be limited and the kit could sell out before the promotion concludes.

Premium Bandai US also offers free shipping on qualifying orders over $99 independently of Gundam Winter Fest, so builders purchasing the Barbatos can add another eligible kit or accessories to bring their order above the required threshold.
