Bandai Fully Reveals New Gundam X HG Ashtaron Gunpla Kit

Bandai has fully revealed a new HG Gunpla kit based on the Gundam Ashtaron from After War Gundam X.
Pre-orders are now open for the HG 1/144 Gundam Ashtaron, which brings the signature mobile suit driven by Olba Frost into the modern HG format for the first time.

Serving as a cult classic within the wider Gundam universe, the 1996 anime throws viewers into a gritty, post-apocalyptic wasteland where Earth is left picking up the pieces fifteen years after an apocalyptic colony drop wiped out most of civilization.

The plot leans heavily into political survival and tactical warfare, centering on rival military factions and mercenary pilots tracking down devastating, lost war tech, the most notable of which is the moon-powered Satellite System that can level entire landscapes with a single microwave beam relay.

This darker, high-stakes story is exactly why the alternate timeline has maintained such a dedicated following among mecha fans who prefer survival stories over traditional military action tropes.

Serving as the formidable heavy assault unit of the younger twin Frost brother, the newly revealed HG 1/144 Gundam Ashtaron delivers a massive, heavily armored presence to the HG lineup.

Engineering updates to the modern HG format allow the HG 1/144 Gundam Ashtaron to fully replicate its signature tactical gimmicks without losing structural stability.

This massive mobile suit features fully functional atomic scissors that can extend, retract, and move dynamically without requiring any part swapping.

The included beam spear can also be configured into its unique crossbow form, and the HG 1/144 Gundam Ashtaron utilizes a few interchangeable parts to transform completely into its Mobile Armor flight mode.

The HG 1/144 Gundam Ashtaron also comes complete with a beam spear, a beam saber with its clear effect part, a full hand selection, structural joint parts, and a foil sticker sheet.

Launching right alongside Olba’s suit is Shagia Frost’s personal unit, the HG 1/144 Gundam Virsago.

Expanding strike claws hidden within the arms are featured on the HG 1/144 Gundam Virsago, alongside a deploying abdominal section that exposes the devastating triple mega sonic gun hidden inside.

Accessories for this kit include a pair of strike shooters, specialized combination parts to merge the weapons together, a beam saber, a full set of hands, and a foil sticker sheet.

Builders can even place the new HG 1/144 Gundam Virsago directly on top of the HG 1/144 Gundam Ashtaron, when transformed into flight mode, to seamlessly recreate their famous combined attack scenes from the anime.

The HG 1/144 Gundam Virsago is priced at 3,190 yen (approx. $20 USD / £16 GBP), while the larger HG 1/144 Gundam Ashtaron is priced at 3,960 yen (approx. $25 USD / £20 GBP).
Pre-orders are now available via reputable hobby goods retailers, such as HobbyLink Japan.

The HG 1/144 Gundam Virsago is due to ship in October 2026, followed shortly by the HG 1/144 Gundam Ashtaron, which will be released in November 2026.
