Bandai Announces Re-Release for 5 Classic Gundam X Gunpla Kits
Image by Charlotte DavisBandai is bringing five classic Gunpla kits from After War Gundam X back into production, giving builders another chance to pick up a selection of 1/100 scale models based on some of the anime’s most recognizable Mobile Suits.
The latest re-release wave includes Gundam Double X, Gundam Leopard Destroy, Gundam Airmaster Burst, Gundam Virsago, and the much larger G-Falcon Unit with Gundam Double X set.
After War Gundam X originally aired in 1996 and takes place on a devastated Earth following the 7th Space War, where massive colony drops have left much of civilization destroyed.
The story follows Garrod Ran after he acquires Gundam X and eventually joins the crew of the Freeden, bringing him into a conflict involving Newtypes, the New United Nations Earth, and brothers Shagia and Olba Frost.
The latest re-releases arrive during Gundam X’s 30th anniversary year, which has already seen Bandai bring several older kits from the series back into circulation while also expanding its modern lineup with releases including the new HG Gundam Leopard and completely redesigned HG versions of Gundam Virsago and Gundam Ashtaron.
Unlike those newer 1/144 scale releases, the five returning kits come from an earlier generation of Gundam X Gunpla and preserve the larger 1/100 scale interpretations created around the time of the original anime.
Let’s take a look at each of the five returning kits in more detail!
- 1/100 Gundam Double X – ¥2,530 (approximately $16 USD / £12 GBP)
Garrod’s upgraded Gundam can deploy its Satellite System Mk-II to recreate the Twin Satellite Cannon firing configuration, with movable shoulder scopes, opening radiator plates and weapons including its dedicated Buster Rifle, Beam Sabers and G-Hammer.
- 1/100 Gundam Leopard Destroy – ¥2,200 (approximately $14 USD / £10 GBP)
The upgraded version of Roybea Loy’s heavily armed Gundam Leopard recreates its expanded space-combat equipment, including the Twin Beam Cylinder system and the dense assortment of ranged weapons fitted across the Mobile Suit.
- 1/100 Gundam Airmaster Burst – ¥2,200 (approximately $14 USD / £10 GBP)
Witz Sou’s upgraded aerial Gundam returns with its blue color scheme, enhanced flight equipment, and transformation into Fighter Mode, while the kit can also be combined with the separately designed G-Falcon.
- 1/100 Gundam Virsago HG – ¥2,530 (approximately $16 USD / £12 GBP)
Shagia Frost’s red Gundam includes extending Strike Claws and a deployable torso and rear wing system for recreating the firing position of its Megasonic Gun, alongside a pair of kit-original Strike Shooter weapons.
1/100 G-Falcon Unit Gundam Double X HG – ¥4,070 (approximately $26 USD / £19 GBP)
The largest release in the wave combines Gundam Double X with the G-Falcon support craft, which can separate into its flight and container sections before combining with Double X, Gundam Airmaster Burst, or Gundam Leopard Destroy in several different configurations.
Pre-orders for all five of the latest 1/100 re-releases are now open through Premium Bandai Japan, with each kit scheduled to ship in December 2026.
At the time of writing, no international release through channels such as Premium Bandai US has been confirmed, but it may be possible that the kits will appear there shortly.
US fans looking to build a more modern interpretation of the Airmaster Burst can, however, currently pre-order the HG 1/144 Gundam Airmaster Burst through Premium Bandai US, ahead of its 2027 re-release.
