Aquanaut’s Holiday Set for April 23 Release in Japan

Artdink Corporation has announced that the deep-sea exploration adventure Aquanaut’s Holiday will launch for the Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam on April 23, 2026, in Japan.

This upcoming release is part of the ARTDINK GAME LOG project, an initiative dedicated to porting and re-releasing the company’s historical titles for modern gaming hardware.

Originally released for the PlayStation in 1995, the title is recognized as a pioneer of the free-roaming genre, focusing on environmental immersion rather than specific objectives.

Players take on the role of an employee at the International Oceanographic Research Institute who explores the ocean depths using a state-of-the-art submarine named Holiday.

The gameplay encourages users to map uncharted waters, interact with various marine life, and discover ancient underwater ruins at their own pace.

This version features a Remaster Mode which introduces high-resolution textures for aquatic creatures to provide more detail to their patterns and expressions.

Fans seeking a nostalgic experience can utilize the Classic Mode, which includes screen filters such as Scanline and CRT to replicate the visual style of the 1990s.

The digital package also includes a digital version of the original manual, providing players with the same background story and instructions found in the 1995 release.

Priced at 2,420 yen, the game will support Japanese as its only language option upon its release on April 23, 2026.
