Azur Lane Reveals New 2B and A2 Skins Ahead of NieR Automata Collab Event
Yostar has revealed the first major details for Azur Lane’s upcoming collaboration with NieR, with fan-favorite androids 2B and A2 set to join the mobile game as part of a limited-time event.
Azur Lane is a popular side-scrolling mobile game that combines anthropomorphized warships inspired by real-world naval history with anime-style character designs, earning a worldwide following through its ever-expanding roster of collectible characters and frequent crossover events.
NieR is the critically acclaimed action RPG developed by PlatinumGames and published by Square Enix, following the story of combat androids fighting to reclaim Earth from invading machine lifeforms, with protagonists 2B and A2 becoming two of gaming’s most recognizable characters.
The collaboration was officially confirmed during Yostar’s official Azur Lane livestream on July 11, which celebrated the upcoming NieR crossover while also sharing the latest game updates planned for July.
The limited-time “Azur Lane x NieR: Automata” crossover event will run from July 16 until the scheduled maintenance on July 30.
As part of the event, 2B joins the roster as an SSR Light Cruiser, while A2 arrives as an SSR Heavy Cruiser, giving commanders two brand-new collaboration characters to recruit.
Both characters will also receive exclusive alternate dynamic outfits inspired by the collaboration, allowing players to customize their appearance after obtaining them.
Yostar also confirmed that each collaboration character will receive dedicated exclusive equipment created specifically for the event.
The crossover will also include themed equipment skins, a special dorm furniture collection and a unique battle UI theme inspired by NieR, allowing players to fully transform the game’s presentation during the event.
The collaboration forms part of a wider batch of announcements from the livestream, which also introduced upcoming new shipgirls and a collection of fresh nurse-themed character outfits arriving in future updates.
The “Azur Lane x NieR: Automata” collaboration event will begin on July 16 and continue until scheduled maintenance on July 30, giving players a limited window to recruit 2B and A2 along with the event’s exclusive rewards and customization items.
