Zeta Gundam’s Exclusive RE/100 Guncannon Detector Z-MSV Gunpla Kit Returns for New US Re-Release
Image by Charlotte DavisBandai has officially confirmed that an exclusive Gunpla kit based on one of Zeta Gundam’s lesser-seen Mobile Suit variations is set for a new re-release that will see it return for US builders.
The “RE/100 1/100 Guncannon Detector (Z-MSV Ver.)” recreates the MSA-005K as it originally appeared through Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam MSV, before the machine was later redesigned for its appearance in Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn.

Developed by Anaheim Electronics at the request of the anti-Titans organization Karaba, the Guncannon Detector was created as a ground-based artillery Mobile Suit using technology derived from the MSA-005 Methuss.

Despite its name and twin shoulder cannons recalling the RX-77 Guncannon, it was developed from the Methuss mobile suit instead and was named due to its similarity to the original Guncannon model, which Karaba director Hayato Kobayashi briefly piloted during the One Year War.

The Z-MSV version is particularly recognizable thanks to its red armor, giving it a very different appearance from the blue and gray redesign later seen fighting during the events of Gundam Unicorn.

Bandai originally released the RE/100 Guncannon Detector as a standard retail kit in February 2018 using the Unicorn-era version of the design, before introducing this Z-MSV variation as a Premium Bandai exclusive two months later.

The exclusive version replaces several of the standard kit’s details to more closely match the earlier Z-MSV artwork, including changes to the head, its ear-like side armor, and the front of the chin, alongside a differently shaped rifle.

Also included are newly designed water-transfer decals ranging from additional markings to caution graphics.

The underlying RE/100 construction keeps the model at the same 1/100 scale as a Master Grade while using a more straightforward internal structure, placing greater emphasis on the completed Mobile Suit’s proportions, equipment, and overall presence.

The Guncannon Detector’s artillery role is reflected through its pair of large backpack-mounted Beam Cannons, with the machine also carrying a Beam Rifle and additional ranged weapons suited to its mid-range support role.

Its latest US return also follows another recent RE/100 re-release announcement connected to the Zeta Gundam era, with Quattro Bajeena’s red Gundam Mk-III Unit 8 also set for a re-release in early 2027.
Image by Charlotte DavisBandai has also been revisiting several other Zeta Gundam-related exclusives during September, including a new Japanese production run of the transformable HGUC Zeta Gundam Wave Shooter and the first re-release in around five years for Gates Capa’s gray-blue HG Baund Doc.

Pre-orders for the “RE/100 1/100 Guncannon Detector (Z-MSV Ver.),” priced at $54, are now open through Premium Bandai US ahead of shipping in February 2027.

Orders are scheduled to remain available until January 16, 2027, at 2:59 AM EST, although Premium Bandai may close reservations earlier if the available allocation sells out.
