Tomie’s Most Terrifying Form Comes to Life in Massive New Junji Ito Statue

Unbox Industries has officially unveiled one of the most ambitious Junji Ito collectibles ever created, bringing the horrifying Tomie: Monster to life after more than three years of development.
Junji Ito is regarded as one of Japan’s greatest horror manga creators, with works such as Tomie, Uzumaki and Gyo earning worldwide acclaim for their disturbing imagery and unforgettable supernatural stories.

The new statue takes inspiration from Mansion, one of the stories featured in the Tomie manga series, recreating one of the franchise’s most grotesque and unsettling transformations in extraordinary detail.

Originally published in the June 1990 issue of the horror manga magazine Monthly Halloween, the story was later included in the first volume of Junji Ito’s Horror Comic Collection: Tomie in 1997.

Mansion follows a doctor living inside a mysterious estate who becomes obsessed with Tomie’s unnatural regenerative powers and begins conducting horrific experiments using the landlord’s daughter as a test subject after injecting her with Tomie’s bodily fluids.

The experiments ultimately unleash Tomie’s endlessly multiplying nature, transforming the innocent girl into the terrifying creature that serves as the inspiration for this new statue.

To recreate that unforgettable moment in three dimensions, Unbox Industries partnered with acclaimed horror sculptor Marin, while Junji Ito personally supervised the project throughout its lengthy development.

According to the manufacturer, the statue underwent years of refinement and repeated revisions under the careful oversight of both the licensor and Ito himself before reaching its final form.

The finished piece captures the horrifying concept of Tomie’s uncontrollable mutation and proliferation, resulting in what Unbox Industries describes as one of its most ambitious horror collectibles to date.

Every section of the sculpture has been designed to emphasize the creature’s disturbing organic appearance, creating an imposing display piece that faithfully recreates the unsettling atmosphere of the original manga.

Standing approximately 36 cm tall and weighing around 7.5 kg, the statue is one of the largest and heaviest Junji Ito collectibles produced by the company.

Fans attending the Hong Kong Animation-Comic-Game Fair 2026 will be the first to see the completed statue in person, with the display making its public debut during the event.

The Junji Ito’s Tomie: Monster statue is priced at $750 USD (approx. £550 GBP), excluding shipping, and fans will be able to place pre-orders at the Hong Kong Animation-Comic-Game Fair, which runs from July 24 to July 28, 2026, with pre-orders also set to open shortly via the official Unbox Industries website.

The statue is currently scheduled to begin shipping in late October 2026.
