To You In The Beyond Anime Film Reveals Teaser Trailer and Main Cast
The official website for the upcoming anime film adaptation of Akiko Abe’s light novel To You in the Beyond released a teaser trailer and key visual on April 5, 2026.
The film is scheduled for a theatrical release in Japan on October 9, 2026.
TMS Entertainment is producing the animation with Junichi Wada serving as the director.
The screenplay is written by Sayaka Kuwamura, who previously worked on the film Josee, the Tiger and the Fish.
Hechima is responsible for the character designs and serves as the chief animation director for the project.
The voice cast features Hiiro Ishibashi as the protagonist Kazuki Tsukigase and Anna Nagase as Nanao Akishika.
Additional cast members include Shimba Tsuchiya voicing Mikiya Ozaki and Hiroshi Tamaki as the character Takatsu.
The story is set on the remote island of Saikijima where Kazuki discovers an unconscious girl at a location known as the Cove of Spiriting Away.
The plot follows the two characters as they spend a summer together before encountering a surprising revelation.
The original source material was published by Shueisha under their Shueisha Orange Bunko imprint.
The film features an insert song titled Balsam which is performed by the singer-songwriter Tota.
Shochiku is handling the distribution of the movie throughout Japan for its October 9, 2026, premiere.
